May secure another handgun, what about the Coonan 357 mag....

I called them. They have a shipment of 16 or so coming in the next few weeks, most custom ordered and all spoken for. they said it was about 1 year for orders, which seems pretty much standard these days.
 
I picked up the last one at Prophet River, won't have it for a couple weeks but I think it was the last one in Canada. Will let y'all know how it stacks up against the old one I had.
Checked Wanstalls as well and yep they maybe 220 bucks cheaper but next possibility sometime between Mar and May.........also theirs comes with 1 mag and Prophet comes with 2 so that eats up 120 of the difference.

Good snag. I was very tempted on that one (though my desire to buy just about anything has gone up exponentially since starting to frequent this site). Definitely report back.
 
As per Dan from Wanstalls, i shoulg get mine around late April, the SS and wooden grip one + a couples of Xtra mags... JP.
 
ok i couldn't stand it and pulled the trigger on a coonan instead of an sti rangemaster. waiting for the transfer to go through and hopefully i get it before xmas.

really wanted the sti. to me the rangemaster is one of the nicest 1911 in 1500 range on the market and by all accounts extremely accurate. the uniqueness, ballistics, and versatility (with the 38 special option) of the coonan won out. (ok the deal from questar's helped a little too).

now off to buy my wife something really nice for so she doesn't get totally pissed that i bought another gun....
 
Told Dan from Wanstalls that i will pass on the Coonan since i bought a Wilson X-Tac 45 acp 1911, this investment cover a lot of ground... JP.

first impressions- so far so good. nice finish. compared to the DE this is not a big gun. i don't have huge hands and the grip feels very manageable - smaller than i expected. looking forward to shooting it.

Left the Coonan behind and bought that instead 2X times the price but a great 1911 is a must, i was told so.. The Coonan maybe summer 2014... JP.

you can't go wrong with a high end like the wilson, nighthawk or les baer. i'd do it if i could but they are out of my range at the moment. i'm still pining for a sti range master but i sprung for the coonan first. i've always be fascinated with ballistics and given the coonan maximizes the 357, i knew i would get one at some point. then questar's comes along with a progressive sale.... i couldn't control my myself!

Any of you guys finally had a chance to try out your new Coonan? I'm curious on how the newer version performs vs. the first series.

Any one tried it with both .357 & mild .38? Any FTF or problems with lead bullets ammo in both calibers?

funny. just did and posted impressions in another thread. really liked it. very accurate off hand for me. i was shooting it as well at 25yrs as i shoot my sig x5 all round. i only shot 180 jacketed and it was totally reliable. i doubt i will every shoot lead because of the issues i have had with lead bullets in my 357 revolvers but i am sure it would be fine. don"t know how the old versions perform but i have no complaints or regrets about this purchase. nicely made, great shooting gun. do it, if you can't find that 220 x6 ;-) hey i've been looking for the 220 x6 for about a year and nothing
 
Just read your review. Sure looks good! I have both P220 X6 and Super Match on order. The Super Match witch should be here in a few weeks (been waiting for 15 months) might be for sale if I can get a delivery date for my X6.

the p220 x6 is one of my all time favourites, particularly the older model without the sharper angles and rail, but i like the new ones too. given other recent purchases, until i liquidate something, i wont be considering another item of this calibre (no pun intended) any time soon. the match elite in addition to the super match, might be a good compromise too. surely another run p220s is around the corner.
