McMillan stocks to Canada

why only Corlanes when Clay can do it for less ... and legally ...
 
price sorry.

the price announced is $100 but seems they had duty, broker, shipping etc so what is the final bill?

up to now when i was dealing with prophet river i never had any surprise and i want still the same, hope you agree.

Yes be careful with Corlanes they sometimes hold your things hostage and charge you extra if you dont do the work with them,
even after you've done work with them in the past. Just an experience some of my friends have had.

I decided to go with Corlanes simply because it sounded like the easiest way to go. No paper on my end and the stock would be shipped right away. With Prophet River the stock needs to be shipped to their FFL dealer in the states wait there it will sit until the next shipment heads North of the border. Then it goes to Clay, then to me. All said wait time can be up to two months according to the website. The few people I know that have dealt with Corlanes have been happy, this will be my first experience. I would assume one will be on the hook for taxes and brokerage regardless of how it comes across the border. I would be surprised if Prophet could somehow absorb these costs for the $50 import fee they charge. I suppose we'll have to wait and see how it pans out.

Hopefully this isn't the case as all I'm doing is upgrading the stock on my M65. No work to be done. I'll let everybody know how it pans out.
 
Little update.....

I was contacted by Corlanes yesterday. My stock has landed at Corlanes and will be shipped to me shortly. Charges will be the $100 fee for import, gst on the purchase price on the stock and shipping from Dawson Creek to me. So far no surprises.
 
Good to know. My stock just shipped to them. They sounded straight forward on the phone. It's basically 100$ charge plus all the duties and charges that you would pay had the stocked been shipped directly to you, plus the shipping from them to you.

Still sucks though. Stupid US department of state.
 
I was on 24h and Rick posted they could send stocks again and it was to be through corlanes. These are officially the guys we need to talk to now about getting mcms up here? Sounds like it anyways. Was hoping Clay would be a guy as well as I've dealt with him for years and everything was always to my utmost satisfaction.
 
Peter at Hirsch Precision is also an importer according to the email I received from Rick last week.

As for my stock, I decided the extra costs and BS was no longer worth it so I cancelled my order and ordered a Wildcat Composite instead.
 
got the answer from Mcmillan, Justin to name it and seems that there is no issue to use another broker importer including Prophet river. you need just to send them the license and of course their name on your papers.

so there is more than one option to get them.

Well my stock was delivered 2 days ago. Extra cost was $163 to have Corlanes handle the job and it was in my hands a little over 2 weeks after McMillian said it was ready to ship. $100 to Corlanes for importing, $30 to ship it from Dawson Creek and $33 for taxes paid at the border. No surprises and Corlanes was great to deal with. Hope that gives everybody an idea of the additional costs they'll be looking at if they go this route.
 
An extra $163 bucks is a kick in the nuts. I also cancelled an order a couple weeks ago due the extra cost/hassle/wait and went a different route with my plans.

I agree Big Jon. I'm not too happy about it but I decided to eat it all the same. Stocks for my M65 are few and far between. This will be the last McMillian I ever buy though. For the money spent (just about $900) I'm sure there are other options without the 10 month wait and additional bs,

It sure is a kick in the nutz! McMillan should be eating those costs on stocks that were paid for in full long before this happened.
 
Just an update. I ordered a McMillan Sako 75 painted black custom drop in on Feb 7, 2014. It showed up yesterday and the cost was $849.55 all in!! I also used Corlanes as it seemed the simplest route. The total cost included shipping from Corlanes to Alberta. Needless to say I won't be ordering more at that price!!!
 
What a piss off, I ordered one of my stocks December 10 and payed for it up front, now it's going to cost another $163 to get it, this will be my last McMillan too. What really pisses me off though is I ordered another stock in late January and have had it for months, both stocks were for Remington style actions, not sure how they do their orders.
