Nothing personal CR, but I find your comments to be extremely obnoxious.....openly advocating for the bankruptcy of a company because they.....used a threaded fastener to retain two mating peices? Come on man. People have used these to hold things together for well over a hundred years now (including guns).
Maccabee has made mistakes, but in MY OPINNION they were mistakes. Any claims of their actions being malicious or vindictive, is simply projection of personal frustration onto them.
I dont own an SLR, and I dont really plan on getting one. Simple fact is that I couldn't afford one when they dropped, and in retrospect I just dont like the magwell profile.....
I'm going through the leg work to hopefully shut up all the people #####ing. Also because I'm a nice guy and I want to help out maccabee by finding a good source for these nylock screws, instead of flaming on the internet with the stated goal of advocating for their bankruptcy.
Give your head a shake man...
Sorry, I just think that when a company charges $1000 for a receiver set it should be built right. The customer shouldn't be left to need to drill holes out so their pins fit, and they shouldn't have to piss around trying to find some special bolt or washer to have something that doesn't come loose all the time.
I don't hope they go bankrupt, I hope they come up with a better way to keep the upper and lower together and take care of their customers.
If they just keep cranking them out and taking peoples money till people stop buying them then I cut them no slack for being a new company or for being a Canadian company. As a Canadian company my expectations are higher not lower.
I have no problem with their way of sliding the upper and lower together or the magwell angle, it's just not for me and I want an ATRS set.
I do however know a retired armourer who hates the receiver sets and discourages anyone from buying them.
I think ATRS was first out of the gate , With the MV,MH .
Not that it matters, but just saying.
I get how people are upset, but at the same time I think they need to look 3-4 years ago. MacDef took a risk and gambled a lot of money to bring something to the market that no one had yet do. Also, everyone seems to compare MacDef to ATRS... but we haven't seen ATRS yet. Sure, they have some pedigree but I would bet there will be growing pains with them too.
Ive built 3 MacDef sets so far. One cracked bolt release pin hole. MacDef took the receiver back and Im waiting on a replacement. Met the owner and saw the shop - really put things in perspective for me. Great service on his end, and even if his product is only 95% of what the ATRS is, Im still happy. Dude brought something to market that is really really cool and is working his butt off. I don't expect his product to be perfect, but he certainly stands behind it - and in my book that worth a lot.

So get an ATRS set then? Where is yours?
The mh and mv had their teething issues... would you condemn ATRS charging an exorbent amount of money for them? Yeah didn't think so.

Dig back and read at how this group crucified ATRS for the Modern Hunter offering even tho it was the first true NR faux AR. Items of contention was the poor accuracy and the side folding charging handle and of course the price. Regardless of how hard ATRS tried to rectify some minor issues posters who had never owned or let alone seen one ripped them a new one.

This. 1000x this. Gold.Post a question, or complaint about the brand currently on the Naughty List and you'll get a few helpful replies followed by 4-5 X as many useless comments about how you should have bought "Y", and how can "X" be still in business. We may as well add to the list of "what day is it"? I decree that the first hour of each Solstice to be Witch Burning Hour. All good members should have their effigies ready!
Yes the ATRS rifles had teething issues, the difference is that they communicated with their customers and gave updates regarding timelines and explained delays rather than just ignoring their customers and saying they'll be ready when they're ready.
Then when customers reported having issues they made corrections to the design and also offered to upgrade any previously sold units to the newest specs for free. Why would I condemn a company for that?
I don't think the price of either the SLR or MS receiver sets is excessive at all. I think it's very fair if they actually deliver what they advertise.
Considering that ATRS has been selling their CNC AR-15 restricted receiver sets for close to $1000 for years You can't even say that it's the non restricted tax. Just because you can buy a forged AERO receiver set for a couple hundred bucks doesn't mean that a CNC set is overpriced at $1000.

And you have automatically assumed MDI won't rectify a potentially problematic bolt issue? I admit their comms were not as good as it should be but all I heard from you is whinging about how wah wah bolts suck, helicoils are terrible etc.
Precisely my point. We jump down everyones throat so readily without giving them an opportunity to rectify teething issues.
Canadian manufacturers are really attacked on here sometimes. It amazes me that Canadian companies will even build guns anymore. They make pennies on their dollars and are #### on constantly for their efforts. I don't think they all make perfect guns....but they at least deserve props for even trying.

There, I fixed it for you.I swear that the Canadian community is its own worse enemy at times.
