I had mine crack on the left side in the same spot. Dropped it off at my lgs and they sent it in for warranty. It is a known defect so SIG fixed it without question of whether I was the original owner or not. 13 months later I got the pistol back with the upgraded slide.
Me N Pa playin fix it, Mosquito style this time. RANGE UPDATE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE :(

Well range update, Total failure. The parts my dad and I worked on held up just fine but the rest of the gun didn't, after about the 23rd round the slide broke right in half. Iam pretty bummed about it, mainly do to the work and effort we put into it. here is the pics.
Its a cheap pot metal, not really weldable

I had one and it was perfect after being broken in, I sold it because I got a p226 classic an no longer used it
I bet you can get a new slide on warranty but the wait would be long probably.

Note to self...don't buy a Sig Mosquito.
Dont think there are any stats available on how often certain guns fail
Most of the above guns have been around longer than the Internet too
That said, I don't know why sig even bothered with the mosquito, the p226 classic is better all around gun (except no last round hold)

You can't truthfully be comparing centerfire KB's to rimfire ones, can you? All of the above pics are likely the ammo's fault. The OP's gun is the chitty metal's fault.
I am totally done with all the pot metal slide 22's (GSG, "SIG", "M&P" etc) Stick with Ruger's and they will last a few life times.

I'm saying any material can fail, the pic of the Springfield steel slide is the same failure as OP's pot metal
Not defending pot metal, I think it is doomed to fail sooner or later ( especially the poorly cast ones )

I had the EXACT same failure last week and was fortunate to get a replacement slide from FN Sports ? in Montreal and now back in business. But I did learn that I will only use 1000 fps ammo and the lighter spring in future to keep from slamming the slide back so hard with CCI etc ammo.
Barrel cover/sleeve is alum but bbl and bolt are both steel. Big difference. Reciprocating parts are the key..
