Me N Pa playin fix it, Mosquito style this time. RANGE UPDATE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE :(

I had the EXACT same failure last week and was fortunate to get a replacement slide from FN Sports ? in Montreal and now back in business. But I did learn that I will only use 1000 fps ammo and the lighter spring in future to keep from slamming the slide back so hard with CCI etc ammo.
Wouldn't lighter spring increase the wear?

haha ZING!

Funny, but an epic fail for "ZING!" The pics are from overcharged handloads, not a pistol that has shaken itself apart with .22 rimfire ammo. I Love my 1911's, and like my Glock, and yes I shoot factory ammo.
I can't understand why someone with such a nice Springfield would try to save a few bucks by either buying or making his own reloads!? How much $'s do you think he saved by blowing the pistol all to sh1t, and that's if he still has all fingers and no one in the next stall were hurt?

I reiterate. Note to self, never buy a Sig Mosqito or someones hand rolled ammo! :)

I dont know, I think most people run reloads unless they are rich.
the 1st pic does not seem to be ammo related and is not of the same gun as the 2nd pic

I would also never shoot any one else's reloaded ammo

not saying you should want a mosquito, just saying failures happen to any gun

Wow, I thought Sig Sauer only sold quality products - Or was this .22 abused? Do ya think recoil buffers might have helped? I always wondered what the differences were between a $500 .22 and $800 .22 - now I might have an idea! Lucky you were not seriously injured.
Thanks for sharing!

Don't think there is a difference between different springs for wear.. I do know my Failure to feed problems all but disappeared with the lighter springs.

I also think this isalso gun specific as I saw a Youtube video with a fellow who has (2) Mosquitoes and changed from the heavy springs to the lighter ones and was using CCI MM as well and solved all his problems with feeding.
I tied it and it worked well

Sig put their name on a gun made by someone else- forget who- and I'll bet Sig regrets it. Btw, you don't have to spend $800 to get quality- buy yourself a Ruger Mk.1,2, or 3, new or used- they're outstanding guns, very accurate, eats any ammo.

Yes the Rugers are awesome .22s
I was referring to 1911 style .22 like the CZ Kadet

My Mosquito has been great. I mostly shoot CCI mini-mags, but I've shot some higher velocity stuff too. (I think a put a couple boxes of Velocitor through it.)

The only problems I've ever are:
1) Federal bulk won't cycle the action, which is to be expected.
2) With CCI Blazer, I get a ton of lead left in the barrel. By "a ton" I mean that when I cleaned it afterwards I was pushing out coils of lead that had gotten stuck in the rifling. Obviously this seriously affected the accuracy.

But with CCI Mini-Mags, it's been pretty much perfect.

I don't count my rounds all that carefully, but I've put at least 500 rounds through it--probably closer to 1000.

@Craig0ry, if you are going to sell off the parts or mags, send me a PM. I might be interested.

You can't truthfully be comparing centerfire KB's to rimfire ones, can you? All of the above pics are likely the ammo's fault. The OP's gun is the chitty metal's fault.

I am totally done with all the pot metal slide 22's (GSG, "SIG", "M&P" etc) Stick with Ruger's and they will last a few life times.

Good point.

I initially bought it as a parts gun for buying a brand new one in the future so I'll probably still do that.
