Can someone please recommend a decent meat grinder or direct me to a thread? Willing to spend around $500 or be talked in to more. Thanks.

I've got a 3/4 hp from Cabela's; I think its called the Predator. Oops make that the Carnivore. That thing will chew through a couple moose like a scene from a horror movie. :) It cost more than 500 though, but not a lot more. Might be around 650? They are made by LEM.

This thing is fruck'in heavy.

Yewses an oil filled gear box.
Has the wooden plunger sews yew don't git yer digitzs in there when yer fruck'in druck.
Yewwwww knooooooow.

Using an LEM Big Bite 8 .5hp for the past 5 or so years and it has been amazing. Never binds and it grinds faster than I can feed the thing.

I was certified as a meat cutter since I was 18 and you get what you pay for in general. Don't expect much from walmart or cdn tire. Cabelas has some better quality equipment than the first two.

If you're really doing some volume in meat go to a commercial Butcher and packers supply type outfit, and buy something that will not easily break and you can get parts/attatchments and bushings that they have sitting on the shelf

Cabela's pro series with DC motor

Yes. I have had one for 3 seasons now and it has never had a hiccup. I have used it to grind several hundred pounds of moose, deer, bear and pork so far.

And, with it's DC motor it is very quiet and you don't need to wear ear muffs while using it. Like all grinders it cuts better if your meat is partially frozen.

I bought the Kitchener from princess auto
Great little grinder, I can’t think of how many moose, elk, deer and beef cows
Went thru it without any issues.
They don’t make them anymore

I’ve just sold it to buy a eurodib 1HP grinder.
These grinders were sold by Costco and now
Appearing in the liquidation stores across sask for around 450 dollars

I also bought the eurodib 10” meat slicer, this is a decent slicer.

I bought a cabelas one and it works good. The lowest price DC model with metal gears. Grind about 100 pounds a year and had it for 10 or 12 years. Loaned it out a few times so in total its ground about 2000 pounds and no issues.

Our hunting group chipped in and picked up a 3/4 or 1 hp meat grinder. We get together and have a cutting and grinding party and everyone goes home with some
meat. We also have the 5 gallon sausage stuffer and make a few different kinds of sausage.
We tried the 1/4 hp household grinder thing and it was painful to watch. Meat had to be cut into tiny pieces or the grinder would stall. Not good when you have
several deer to process. It took all day to grind.
Then we upgraded to the Cabellas grinder. We were done grinding in an hour. We had to keep small children and pets clear just in case one fell in.
It upped our game from a couple of days to an afternoon of socializing.
I wholeheartedly endorse splitting the cost with your hunting buddies if it is feasable.
