Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors - BC

Hey,

I have been having fun with my non-restricted but now I am looking into getting myself some restricted guns. I was wondering if any more experienced shooters would be willing to head out to a range in the lower mainland with me. I am really hoping some nice nut might be willing to introduce me to some restricted and give me a chance to try firing a couple. Preferably hand guns (.22,9mm, .40, .45) as that is what I'm looking to get first. I would be more than happy to throw a case of beer or some ammo your way for your time. I just dont know anyone into handguns that could show me some things before I go and spend the money on a gun that I end up not liking after shooting. PM me if you wouldn't mind helping me out.

Thanks!!!

i would say DVC ventures, the indoor shooting centre is a great place to start. they have staff there that show you how to shoot, know their guns inside and out, offer guns for you to shoot as they are a rental range as well as a members range. you can try different guns, ask advice, etc. vancouvergunrange.ca

indoor shooting

i would say dvc ventures in poco is a good place to shoot for newbies. they not only have staff that are there just to help you shoot, but have a very large selection of guns you can shoot and try before purchasing. they are a rental range which means you dnt need you licence, but also a members range if you wanted an indoor place to shoot all year round. vancouvergunrange.ca

Places to shoot in Kamloops.

Hey I just wanted to ask where is a good free place to shoot in Kamloops. I know there was the range in batchelor but as far as I know the city shut it down. Is there crown land anywhere near the city that is good for shooting ? Im going to get a pass at the ktsa in dec, I just want a safe place to shoot till then.

Free Range in Kamloops

I've been looking for quite a while and haven't found anything. As a result I've got a membership at KTSA. However, you might want to check out Heffley Creek as at their range they have a place for skeet/trap and they are half the price of the KTSA. What do you shoot? If you're interested in trap/skeet let me know and maybe we can go out a blast a few.

Cheers,

Langley

I'm a new shooter living in the Langley area, just looking for guidance and tips on how and where to get started. Being within a few blocks of LRGC it was the obvious choice, but their website calendar doesn't seem to have a "free shoot" time block where I can just plink away. I stopped by their office the other day, the guy there wasn't particularly helpful or forthcoming with "need to know" info for a green twentysomething.

Check out Thursday evenings (.22 night) at Langley - the range officer is helpful and knowledgeable.

Hey was wondering if anyone in the LowerMainland region wanted to take an enthusiastic University kid out and show him the ropes of centerfire bolt action rifles. It'd be a bonus if they're milsurp. Gas and ammo costs not an issue.

Looking for someone to take me out for a deer hunt. In Kelowna, but will travel, have 4x4 and will drive. Scoped Mossy 500 with rifled slug barrel, good shot to 150. Mule tag purchased. Very careful and highly ethical, hope mentor would be of the same. Fairly flexible on weekday / weekend hunts too!
Boy, this sounds like a personals add!!
Thanks all.

Hi everyone

My girlfriend and I were at DVC on Friday (the indoor shooting range), I have minimal experience with handguns and my girlfriend has none. We got to the range and were treated well and decided on trying out a 9mm and a .40 cal. We then tried the 12Ga and she finished off with a .460. All in all we had a wonderful time but we both appear to be hooked.

She thinks she has a CZ 75 SP-01 on her wish list, but after a little research I wonder if a CZ 75B or a 75B Omega wouldn't be just as good a choice. We shot a glock .40 and a SP-01 9mm, I found the glock a bit light and after about 15 rounds I was flinching but not with the CZ.

We both would like to eventually try competitive shooting, I used to shoot trap and skeet and when in basic training I did very well on the rifle range but hand guns are different that's for sure.

Where do we go from here (other than the PAL Course which we are going to take next month). Some stores wont let us handle guns while others are fine with it. Favorite stores around the lower mainland?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Doug

Looking for a Mentor in the West Kootenays

Hi all, New to the Forum,
Need to find a professional, responsible, level headed mentor to take me out in the field and do some hunting and marksman training.

I had to look-up where 'Ymir' is. Typically, when you ask for something/someone to be "local" you need to specify a much smaller area than "The Kootenays".

Be that as it may, good luck.
