Meeting place for Newbies and Mentors -Ontario

Yeah im in the same boat here aswell, im currently doing pal&rpal courses, now.. im contemplating weather or not I should start the 28 day pal app wait period, My firearms instructor told me not to do this, because he's heard of stories of such people waiting 1 year, because they couldn't find the original pal/rpal application(apon arrival of CSFC papers). Now, that being said, he made us fill out the forms, and check off "Proof attached" in both boxes, pal and rpal...Now I need to obtain another form, unless I can do this online?

Anyways, what's your 2cents, opinions appreciated.

P;S ~~ I know, iv read many stories on here about pal aps being "quick" following the method on sticky, but my firearms instructor is hard on the fact to NOT do this, I'm completly stuck...?

***reading awesome stories on here since 2010, 1st post is today, and yes i'm finally getting sucked into this hobby***

I sent in mine without the test results and faxed them in afterwards (called and got application # first to fax with results). I called in to do my interview but it was not required (PAL only) and they told me the license would be sent out once the 28 day wait is up which will be this Monday.

Forms are available online or just put a post it note on your application saying results will follow.

Kingston Trap & Skeet - New Members

As a member of the Kingston Trap & Skeet Club, and in an effort to increase membership, I would like to invite new shooters to visit our club with their shotguns to learn to shoot Trap and/or skeet. We have a very good facility and the members are always willing to teach and provide excellent hospitality.

We are open every Wed afternoons & evenings and every Sunday from 0900am on.

Come out and have some fun. Tell them that Mark sent you.

See you there!

Guests/visitors are welcomed. You can shoot at our club three times as a guest, then we would like to encourage membership. I am a fairly new member myself and I'm hooked.

What're the membership fees like?

I'm trying to find an instructor in the Scarborough Area (Markham Rd + 401) but I seem to be having difficulty locating one from the FSES Website as it only lists via area code. I can only seem to find instructors downtown toronto, does anyone know of any nearby instructors for PAL/RPAL?

Google "York Region Firearms Academy".

A great bunch of guys and many referrals on this site.

I am going to be in Kingston on Aug 27 as my wife has baby shower. Needless to say I am planning on making myself scarce Saturday afternoon and was wondering if anyone would like to meet up to go shooting. I just got my license a few weeks ago and have a .22 rifle and shotgun.

Hi Guys,

I'm looking at getting my PAL (unrestricted and restricted) this month for employment purposes. I live in Mississauga. Can someone recommend a good instructor/place to take the course? I am willing to drive up to an hour.

Thanks for your time.

I'm taking mine in Burlington through "Hamilton firearms Academy", they have courses in Oakville as well.

Thanks guys!

I emailed them both. "Canadian Firearms courses" has one running next weekend in Brampton.

"Hamilton Firearms Academy" had one next weekend but its full so i am looking at the Sept 17/18 course date.

Going to go with one or the other. Will see.

Just took mine with Wellesley Consulting - training was near 401/Hurontario in Mississauga. Great instructors. Learned a lot and they were on time and gave ample amount of time for handling, etc.

Hello, Toronto Newbie here...

Finally got my PAL/RPAL, purchased my first rifle (in 9mm so I can shoot indoor too), ordering my eye and ear protection and cleaning stuff as soon as I figure out what is good.

I was thinking of heading down to Silverdale Gun Club either next Saturday (24th) if I am free or the following Saturday (1st) for sure, as they have their safety course every Saturday and seem very friendly. Even though I did well on my PAL/RPAL test, remember all my ACTS/PROVE, and I am pretty sure I understand everything in theory, I never fired a firearm without someone instructing... So I am just a little bit nervous about just heading down on my own. Anyone shoot at Silverdale who wouldn't mind mentoring a newbie?

Or, if anyone else is familiar with one of the closer ranges/clubs to Toronto, or shoots anywhere else safe/legal and wants to help a newb get started, feel free to Reply/PM/email. Thanks!
