Mentoring

I am looking for a hunting partner for small game/waterfowl in the Ottawa area...I've had my PAL for a bit but recently just got my hunting permit...I plan to hunt using both a gun and a bow, so either type of hunter apply...I currently have a bowtech sniper bow, and a few guns.

I also have a boat so if we need to hunt from water, I can bring it out!

I've hunted a bit outside of Canada, but hunting here is all new to me, and I would like to learn the ropes

Hey guys and gals,

I'm new to Manitoba and my potential hunting budy just got posted out. I don't have a suitable vehicle or (honestly) the know how in order to hunt alone and would like some help hunting white tails this November. I've got the 30-06 and plenty of ammo, a nice set of knives/edged tools, and few other bells and whistles but not much.

I need someone with a truck and an area to hunt. I'm offering most of the meat in exchange for the experience; all I would like is the surloins and steaks in order to have it made into jerky for xmas presents. I might also want some of the hamburger/a roast or two for buddies in Winnipeg.

Anyway, we can work out the details later. Please let me know if this sounds appealing to you.

Without your help, I won't be able to participate this season.

I have my Hunter Safety course now, just need a Wildlife Cert. & a license/tag...

Anyone around the Calgary area willing to let me tag along for the experience ?

I have 1st Aid Std, intermediate Wilderness Survival training, & my own gear/gun.

Prairie deer starts on Wednesday. Gonna take a young fellow with me for his first hunt. He went thru Hunter Ed. I was asked to "fill out a form" so he could get his Mule doe tag as part of the "Mentor" program. It turned into a meeting where I had to sign up to a club membership and insurance, for him to get license. I also had to sign a form to allow a police criminal record check.
I kinda felt ambushed by this. I don't like clubs in the first place. They seem to be run by the biggest mouth in the herd. Second, didn't care for inference I was a pervert that needed to be checked out by the police before I took a young fellow, armed with a 30-06 into the field where I would "have my way" with him. Seems like a typical government BS program.

That aside, I am looking forward to helping this young buck with his hunt. Also, if there are any newbies in the Calgary area that would like a little help getting started, feel free to PM me. Would love to show you the ropes.

Regards All!
Gary

New hunter in SW Ontario here. By Hamilton area but willing to drive a bit. Just passed course 2 weeks ago.

Just have small game license for now - can purchase other tags.

Looking for someone to show me the ropes!

I am looking for someone to take me and my two friends deer hunting in southeast manitoba. We are not new to hunting, but new to whitetail hunting. We have gear and everything, just looking for someone who can join us and has the inside track on deer hunting in southeast manitoba. Please pm me.

I took two older gentlemen out this year. One had not hunted for more than 10 years due to disabilities. He is unable to do the physical work after pulling the trigger, so I offered to and he got a nice buck last week. The other had not hunted since childhood accompanying his father, but had never taken his own animal. He now has a nice doe (Wed night)hanging, sorry no pic of it hanging

and a decent cow (Fiday night) moose. You can't get better than that!

Especially since we each got a cow in the same spot, same time. Oh, the enormous amount of work! Shot both at sunset, but only one made it into the woods. It was after 11 before both were hung in our shops. Didn't skin them, I was exhausted. Need to work smarter if I am gonna continue to harvest moose and elk. Gotta come up with a better system, or not fill two tags at once. I am NOT a kid anymore!!!

I took a very new hunter out Thursday but couldn't get the shot for him, animals just a little too skittish for some reason.

Not sure what is wrong with photobucket right now, but I can't seem to upload photos from my phone. Once I can, I'll get his moose pic on here. EDIT:(nothing wrong that a new app didn't fix)

That makes 4 new hunters in 2 years I have helped fill their freezer and only one bad experience. I really love doing this.

I am in the GTA commuting between oakville and toronto, I would love to learn anything hunting/shooting related anyone is willing to teach me. I am waiting to get my license in Jan, I don't know anyone else to shoot or hunt with. I don't drive currently since I work in Toronto but I am willing to bus it/train it/taxi it to where you are within reason.

Anyone in the lower mainland BC willing to take on a novice? Anything from varmints to moose. Would love to learn the deer aspect. Have the rifle, don't have the mentor.

Hello. I'm new to the whole sport but i had my Pal and hunting license for 2 years now. Didn't have much opportunity to get out as it's hard to know where to go and where I can shoot in the GTA. I'm hoping to find something that will take me out coyote or small game hunting. Does anyone know any outfitters or anyone themselves that will take a newbie hunting for $100? I checked around and most outfitters take people out half a day for like $225... That's too much out for me sadly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. Anyone in eastern Manitoba willing to take a newish deer hunter out. I am starting hunting later in life I am 51yrs young. I also would love to go moose hunting also. Upland bird hunting interests me too. Thank you.

Hi everyone,

I'm in the GTA with family and girlfriend in Burlington and Hamilton, i've also got family property up in Peterborough. I would love to learn anything hunting/shooting/reloading related if anyone is available and willing to teach in any of those areas.

My PAL Licence application is in its final stages and i should have it in about two weeks time. I've also passed my Ontario Hunter Ed and have just gotten my small game licence. I'm very interested in hunting Coyote, Moose, Deer and Elk in ontario. I'm a driver, so i'd be happy to meet up with a group. Also i like to learn my getting my hands dirty, so I'd be happy to do the field dressing once i know how!

Thanks!
Duncan

Hi guys, i'm in the Toronto area and looking for someone to share their knowledge about Turkey and Duck hunting. I have been shooting Trap/Skeet for the last few years and would love to get that first Turkey this spring.

Hi, new to hunting as well and interested in coyotes. I've been punching paper with precision rifles for the past couple of years, and some trap and pistol thrown in for good measure.

Live in Burlington. I have my small games tag. Anyone nearby willing to show a new guy the ropes?

Thanks!
