I'm in search for the same thing. I'm living in Montreal,QC and I convinced my whole family to get restricted and non-restricted classes. Now we are all PAL owners but I can't find a guide or so for snow geese and why not for any kind of game. I really want to offer to my family members some nice hunts because I did so much effort to convince them to get their permits and all.
I checked for professional guides but no succes.

Redlich if u ever find someone PLEASE give me a sign and I will do the same.

This is my 1st post on the forum - wont be my last.

This thread is a great idea for people to get together.

I'm in the GTA and i'm looking to get out for Wild Turkey this spring and then big game in the fall. If anyone is interesting in prospecting some areas for the spring, i'm around.

Shoot me a PM

Deer and Moose is what i'll be really preparing for, for 2011 Fall.

Cheers

Hey if that offer is still open I'd love to join you. I live in vancouver but I don't mind a good drive. If you have any questions let me know.

This thread and the hunter's getting older thread got me to thinking.
while this thread being a sticky is excellent, it's tough to wade through the many pages to locate a possible connection or someone offering to mentor folks in any given specific area or region in the country. I think CGN is the perfect place to set up a canada wide list of guys willing to mentor new hunters....... whaddya guys think? someone would have to start the thread and then be the contact person for those wanting thier names put on the list as mentors

Can we set up a new sticky thread, and break the post into each province and those willing to mentor folks can submit thier handle to be added under the province or territory they are from?

I'm in the B.C. Cariboo region, hunting specialties, mule deer, black bear and moose.
would be more than willing to have new hunters join me during deer season sept to november.

M14 Doctor I was thinking the same but I didnt dare to say it. Is true: a sticky with provinces would be perfect.
Personal I found it easier to get your hunting classes and a gun then going to hunting. No, no .... I'm not lazy but imagine someone goin for the first time and getting into trouble with land owners, Police and such.
It is a lot to talk and I wont start it now, but my oppinion is shared by every single person I've been talkin that just got the hunting classes, PAL and gun. They all asked me the same question: OK where we gona go huntin without having any trouble ?

here in BC we have it pretty good, loads of open country and fairly clear regs for no shooting/no hunting zones.
Decent deer hunting and excellent coyote/black bear hunting can be found around the proximity of the lowermainland. For the deer it can be tough as they are like ghosts, but there's lots of em, chilliwack, harrrison, squamish, all within an hour or so of downtown vancouver. For the more diverse opportunities, drivng 2 to 3 hours gets you into country where there is no land owner issues and plenty of deer. I think , and this is only my opinion from reading comments but it seems that being or wanting to be a hunter in the western provinces is much easier than the eastern part of canada, and I think that sux big time for all the youth and outdoor enthusiasts in the east...

It's true though, it's hard to motivate teens and young adults to tough out the hunter and PAL courses. For me I wanted it so bad LOL , I bought the books and challenged and got lucky. I passed with one question wrong on the hunter exam but when marking the test we discovered i got it all right, the answer sheet the instructor had , had one question with the wrong answer LOL
My sons now 19 and 21 both express the desire to hunt, one has accompanied me as my camera man hehehe but neither one to date has taken the hunter course or PAL...... bugs the crap outta me LOL but both have thier nose to the stones trying to keep up with life as an adult, so I cut them some slack and just hope they do get er done. My wife is studying the book and set up for a course in a month or so...... that's been long overdue as well

This post intrigued me so I read it & felt a little guilty in not mentoring others as I was mentored when I was young. I have tried with my nephews but not much interest in the outdoors well at least hunting & fishing. I am willing to teach & pass on what ever would be of interest to others as I have guided for over 20 years for fishing & hunting from the coast here central BC to the Yukon as well as the NWT. I'm no "expert" but have picked up a little here & there. If there are newbies that could use a hand please do not hesitate in contacting me as I believe it is our responsibility to teach others. I'm in the Vancouver area.

If there is anyone in the Vancouver Island area willing to take me and perhaps a buddy out in April for the spring bear season? We're both total novices and know next to nothing about tracking or cleaning game (i guess that's the whole point =P ), but I can hit what I shoot at.

Let me know!

I am young guy from Outside Ottawa, not a rookie according to those who hunt with me, there is a group of younger very experienced guys I hunt with, if you are in the Ottawa area and are looking for some mentoring from some one your own age pm me. We pretty much do it all, emphasis on Waterfowl and as of right now archery deer practice.

Just bouncing my name back up - I've only been hunting for a couple years myself, but having just gone through the whole "I don't have a clue what I'm doing or how the laws work" thing I'm in a good position to talk things through with new hunters.

I may be in Vancouver/Victoria for the summer, definitely in those areas for the fall. Vehicle depends on where we're going.

I am just West of Toronto and would appreciate if anyone is willing to do some mentoring. I hunted bear and caribou with outfitters in QC but would love to find way to hunt more often and closer to home. Turkey, deer, small game, coyotees... driving is not a problem...
PM usually works better for me..., and thanks in advance...
