Mentoring

Glad some people think it is easy to ask for help to go out hunting! I've been asking that same question for the last 4-5 years and only had ONE person offer to take me out for turkey.
Maybe it is because I am an older hunter who can't always get out or maybe its because I am in a wheelchair and NO ONE wants to be bothered or waist their time on me.
Either way you look at it there has to be able bodied hunters available to help not only the noobs but the older ones as well!

sucks reading your post......." the no one wants to waste thier time on me " ...... that's painful to hear from a disabled person. While I'm not in a wheelchair yet.... it's coming.
not sure if the contacts or group is still active but check this link out. Ontario has a representative as does manitoba.

How did the Turkey shoot go?

I run a free Hunt mentoring Program all fall for new hunters in the Ottawa Region. I go out on Fri to Sun on Public and teach Duck, Small game, Bear, Deer and wild edibles.

When July rolls around I will post the same post I post on the Ontario forum.

This will be my 7th season running this program and put an average of 85-115 thru the fall camps.

Hey all, I am looking to see if anyone would want to go deer hunting with me. I have gone before with a friend but I've never cleaned one. I have everything needed - just looking for someone to go with if someone wants to and somewhat of a mentor I guess. I am looking to go on crown land but would like to make plans obviously before the deer draw is over, which is soon. I am in North Bay area, new here for a year now. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks!

Edit: I've done some reading on this thread and want to add that I am not looking to just tag along to get a deer, i'm willing to split any expenses, learn, and have fun. I have a fairly flexible schedule and for me hunting is just about being out in the bush but I'm not too familiar with the crown land boundaries, except for where it's dense bush with not much deer and I am not confident in cleaning one by myself, so i'm just reaching out if anyone would like to go.

Hey guys! So I am not new to hunting but I am a self admitted big game hunting black cloud haha. I’m good at waterfowl hunting and upland game bird but I have been deer and elk for 6 years now and have yet to harvest an animal. I’ve read the articles and have watched the how to videos and when I am out in the bush I put the miles on the boots and look for sign and all of that yet still come out empty handed.

Is there any experienced hunters in the lower mainland BC or Princeton BC area willing to show me what I am doing wrong? I live in the east end of the valley but family has a cabin up near Princeton so either area works for me. Thanks in advance!

New to the smiths falls area, haven't hunted much other than a few days for deer the past couple years. Looking to link up with a couple guys and maybe get some duck/goose this season

No exactly mentoring but great for new hunters as well.
Looking to get out for some squirrel hunting. head shots with a 22LR or High velocity air gun.
hunting buddies are not interested.
Hunting on crown land east of the GTA.
If you're interested to try it out than contact me.
Thank you

Anyone want to pair up for a spring Bear Hunt?
I plan on bringing my truck, camper and quad and would like to set up for bear for a few days.
I have never hunted them before but I got everything needed.

New hunter(s) out of the fraser valley. I've been at it for almost 2 years but this year I've got some friends interested. We are excited to get after spring bear soon and all manner of game throughout the upcoming season. We are all around 30 years old and in good shape; ready to climb mountains all over BC.

Hello everyone, i am new to hunting and a first gen gun owner. i am hoping to see if there is any other "newbie" that would like to meet up and try learning together? I am looking right now to get into turkey. Also, if there is anyone out there that is willing to "mentor" or show the ropes that'll be greatly appreciated. i am in the GTA and willing to travel some distance. Please PM me

hey Nino,

Love the enthusiasm mate! Much like yourself, I've never shot turkey. I did spend some time on crown land in the Kawarthas looking for Toms the last couple of weeks. Had some success scouting as well as calling.

If you would like to join forces, let me know. I have been speaking with some of the senior members here and they've been very kind with advice and information. But, we will have to put in the legwork ourselves :)

cheers
