A couple of questions about meopta scopes.
1st
Why don't we see more of them around if the glass and overall scope is on par with the other euro optics at a cheaper price?
2nd
I'm thinking about buying a optika6 4.5-27-50 wondering if anyone has first hand experience with one, and we're in Canada they can be bought and how much.

Thanks

That’s a big part of the answer to your question, when companies Vortex and Bushnell agressively market and distribute their products.

Is the glass as good as they say?
I currently own a few nightforce nsx from 2.5-10/40 to 15-45 comp and a few Leupold varix 3 and a couple of vortex pst scopes as fa as I'm concerned vortex is not for me.

I understand that marketing is part of it but we all know something that is supposed to be that good we should hear more about it,

I'm wondering were I should spend my money on another nsx or go meopta?

There are a couple vendors, I think Corlanes may be able to bring them in, I had a Meostar 3-12x56 years ago and it was great, but wanted more magnification so I sold it.

Before we were able to retail Vortex optics we sold Meopta and Minox brands. Both lines sold reasonably well with virtually no problems and were excellent value for the price. When Vortex became one of our main lines for our business, the sales of several optics lines suffered with Minox and Meopta the worst. It made little sense to inventory these two with the other established brands doing ok. We dropped Meopta and Minox for space and economics was we had to face the reality that few people came to us asking for these brands and something had to go. Phil.

How was the warranty on the meopta Phil ?

Warranty depends on the model
Anything from 10yrs to 30yrs
I dont know what the warranty service is like
Cause i dont know anyone who has sent one back

I am fairly confident they wont screw you around
If you did happen to have the mis fortune to send
One back

I used to be sales Rep for Meopta in Canada. As some pointed out marketing was the biggest problem with Meopta. They are well know in Europe and don’t need to put much for marketing. When Vortex entered the market with their very aggressive marketing technique it totally killed Meopta.

From a quality stand point you can’t find any glass as clear as Meopta for the price, Meostar line comparable to Swaro. Warranty is now lifetime in North America and older models had a 30yrs on most models. I rarely seen any return, in the last few years as a sales rep I only recall 2 return, one was a fire (not warranted but they cleaned and returned) and an older model that had a black dot (dust) on the glass.

I strongly believe they are one of the best optic maker in the world. Can’t say for today but back then they were very proud of doing 100% of the manufacturing in house, no outsourcing. They also made a lot of OEM for other company (Zeiss conquest line, Nightforce spotting scope as an example).

Unfortunately the distributor I was working for, Canadian Outdoor Distributing, closed a few years ago. That is why you don’t see advertisement or stock on the shelf.

Bushcraft Canada is the best place to get a Meopta, great guy to deal with.

I have a 1950 Brno zg47 with the original zielfernrohr scope mount and meopta 3x scope on it. The scope is still clear and useable......Its too bad meopta wasn't offered in more stores, I would definitely buy one over a vortex any day.

Do you have any experience with the optika6 line, specifically the 1-6 LPVO's. I haven't found any reviews of them and doubt I would be able to see one in person unless I order one. My biggest concern is the daytime brightness levels as I haven't been able to find anything about them.

I have the meopta ZD 6-24 , love the glass ,retical and the turrets track without fail . I did have grief with the illumination and didn't get an answer from Canadian rep at the time so I emailed direct to meopta , they sent me a new cap and spring thing in a couple weeks , which did fix it

I completely agree with these comments. Meopta was weak on promoting their brand for many years focusing instead on making scopes for other companies under their brand. New leadership at Meopta in the most recent years has changed that. I have a meopta meopro that they sold through Cabela's and it is absolutely first-rate with exceptional low-light performance.

I had a older Artemis meopta that had some sort of black coating inside flaking which would end up on the lens. For some reason that model needed to go back to Czech Republic for work. It took a long time, and when it finally came back the same black stuff showed up within days. The optics were awesome, but the experience was very disappointing. I sold it to my brother who didnt mind the issue at the price I gave him. I would buy more, if I was sure the model would be serviced in North America if the need arose.
