Nope. Pretty serious. Colt and Walther both made automatic pocket pistols designed to be carried this way. Engaging the saftey blocks the trigger and the firing pin. The difference between a vest pocket and waistband in terms of muzzle direction is neglibible.
Google the Colt Hamerless 1903 in .25ACP or .380ACP. Note, the Colt Hammer 1903 could NOT be carried this way....diffent pistol entirely. There was also the Colt Vest Pocket of 1908; recently reviewed in Guns and Ammo.
And then there is the Walther PP and PP/k. The TT33 was designed to be carried on half #### with a loaded round in the chamber.
All old designs, pre-dating anything "modern" but available to a 12.6 holder.
Its not something I would do, but I'm not in an environment where I have to carry....RFN.
