migration of wild pigs from United States?

There are a few boar farmers who intentionally bred their Russian boars with tame pigs. This was done to increase the litter size. They get some pretty wonky color combinations. We will never get rid of these invasive creature here; but is is quite the past time trying to. hahaha

I have seen where a wolf finally killed a boar. The wolf must have been extremely hungry as there was a lot of wolf hair on the ground at each spot they fought. It wasn't until the wolf chased the boar up into the open field that it was able to kill it.

In regards to shooting wild boars at night. This option is closing as one special person used this as a defense to get a night hunting deer charge thrown out. SERM is looking at changing the regs to ban boar hunting at night.

The only policy on boars is don't stop shooting till the group is down!!!

There are some( not many anymore )in the river hills north of swift current, saskatchewan. Those videos on YouTube about helicopter hog hunts are wild!! AR on a mount. So much fun!!

i heard southeastern alberta has a problem , also i hear of a pack out around vermillion, might have to make a drive out there next week

How would they cross the border from the US to Ontario?? I haven't seen to many swimming pigs. Most of Ontario is surrounded by rivers and lakes that border the US. Are they going to take the bridges and tunnels? Or catch a ride on the ferries? I guess the only route would be up through Minnesota, but that would be one long trek to make it back down southern Ontario.

wild boars are well known for swimming, plus during the winter ice can help a lot for crossings easily ....

Well The great lakes are hugh and don't freeze. I don't see them swimming across those lakes. Erie is shallow, so maybe that helps. The rivers between those lakes have major current, I don't see pigs swimming across those rivers. I know Lake St. clair freezes in the winter, but I believe a channel is open year round due to the currents. So I don't think there will be a big invasion of wild boars unless they are shipped here.

If the Vancouver canucks ever win the stanley cup, you can expect to see great flocks of these things flying overhead.

A good friend of mine shot a boar north of Vermillion last year ... 500 lbs. Huge tusks up and down and long black hair...nasty looking. It made a beautiful shoulder mount. He laughed at me when I suggested I take one with a bow... WHAT??

well since Im surrounded by 2 great lakes(erie and st clair) and the Detroit river to my front im inclined to say they don't really freeze over that much most likely to come though more north on lake huron where land is close to touching

This might be off-topic (and naive), but concerning hunting, is all wildlife protected by law, and only allowed selectively for hunting purpose ?

Ie. such a non-native pest population explode in Canada and causes damages, authorities have not yet passed new laws about it, are there shootable ?
