I am looking to replace the optic on a .308 Remington LE. I will be shooting from 5-600 m, further if the opportunity presents itself but mainly at those distances.
I am considering the following scopes: Sightron II 6 x 24 x 50. Haven't tried one but am hearing good things: Rivaling the Nightforce Optics perhaps? Excellent optics by all accounts.
I have a Falcon Menace which I really like but haven't used the larger Falcons. I am considering the Falcon 5.5-25x50 FFP EMD Metric which has .1 moa clicks, good optics but I read is also on the heavy side. (Not an issue if target shooting, I guess.) They are on sale for $500 with free shipping, which is good value for the money.
Finally there is a new scope out by Millet, kind of interesting with a 56 mm lens: Millett LRS 6-25x56mm Illuminated MOA with a 35mm tube. They come with their own rings for obvious reasons. I read some reviews on them and they, too, are considered by some to be excellent value for the money. They are also considered to be huge, almost 24" long. That isn't necessarily an issue as this rifle isn't going to be lugged around except from truck to bench.
Any informed opinions would be welcome. I may have missed another optic. If so, tell me about it. I am not interested in Leupold; 6500's seem pricy and I am still waiting 18 months later on a Bushnell scope warranty.
