milsurp alert!! - check this out!

It takes time but the value of these will rise substantially going forward. The limited supply will make this a hard to find variation as time goes on, even if it takes years.

It's normal for people to dump their impulse buys once they get the credit card bill. The one rogue example listed at what the seller paid ($850 + tax) doesn't really represent much. I've purchased a lot of deals off of the EE.

I am just happy to have found a non-refurbished example in the lot. Original bluing, no polishing, et al. I might be the only Canadian collector who knew what to look for or even cared. The Mosin world is a lonely place lol.

Its the way it goes. I have said it before, rarity does not equal value. In many cases rarity just means people don't know about it and as such don't care.

I don't see these being a very valuable collectors item in Canada unless there is a significant increase in serious Soviet Mosin Nagant collectors, which at the moment I would say there is a handful in Canada. Those are the people who would really desire one, everyone else might find it interesting but likely never heard of it before they came for sale. Very little information on these rifles, with very small quantity coupled with a high price quickly takes most out of the market.

I don't know anything about "marketing" but clearly hype and forum chatter played a big role in the short lived blip in market demand for collectable Mosin's. I bought one and I don't regret it but I have no plans to sell it and don't care what its future value is. It peeved me a bit that I had to pay double the amount I had payed for equally (or more) collectable Mosins in the past two years and I think it will be surprising if the sustained market value for them actually holds at at $1000. "Collecting" and fast money making schemes are not compatible goals.

Prices will go up. Even without the bayonet these are still as close to factory condition Mosins (Russian) as you will find. That alone makes them worth $1K, never mind the incredible rarity. So you didn't double your money in a month... boo hoo. It will come.

I bought two myself, not with the intention of flipping one for profit, but to have one that will remain as is and another that I will shoot, because I really have to know how these guns perform in factory condition. So in my case, I'm actually going to devalue my second one. Unfortunately I didn't get my planned Mosin range day this year, come spring though...

On your advice i bought two, now when will they be worth $2000.00?
You said a few months, is it by the end of this year at least?
I see they are sold on the EE at a significant loss right now.

Lol. I hope you didn't buy them to resell them thinking my opinion was any sort of guarantee. I believe they will go up in value, but that is not a guarantee of any sort. Heck, I invested in them too.

Besides, it's Christmas shopping season, luxury items like collector guns are a tough sell from November to February generally.

The Collectors in the US really want these 91/30/43 rifles and they got None. Something about a 5 year wait before you can export these rifles to the US - someone was saying in one of the 91/30/43 threads.
