Well I've been collecting for a few years, (almost 8 :) ) and I think we milsurp collectors almost go through the sames stages as a recovering alcoholic. I think Ihave been around long enough and on th eboard long enough to actually have to roll my eyes at "damn is someone bringing up that topic again" or "jebuz, will that Carcano myth ever die!" threads

I'm curious to see where the rest of you see yourselves.

I see the stages of milsurpitus as:
  1. I bought my first Milsurp - this is interesting and fun to shoot!
  2. Wow a got this gun but I see these are going like hot cakes I better buy one of these!
  3. I'm selling my wife's/GF's underwear on eBay to buy whatever Milsurp I can, no matter if I have doubles and I don't care if the bore is a sewer pipe!
  4. I've deicided to focus my collection on the "blah-blah" period or "blah-blah" rifle!
  5. I've now dumped the pimped SKS and decided to have only original stuff in my collection!
  6. I have only good examples and buy only good examples of pieces!
  7. I own more milsurps than my wife has shoes and the Newfoundland Liberation Army routinley call me for donations!

So cast a vote, say your peace, where are you situated? Can you be helped:D

I am more of a knife collector and bought one bayonet to go with a SMLE project and ended up with another 6 within 2 weeks and no memory of how I got them. Now I have to sell off some of my modern knives to fill the holes in my collection. But I can quit anytime.

The only two firearms I've purchased are both milsurps; the next two I'm planning on buying are not milsurps but are "military-styled" firearms.

I HAVE focussed my collection....

On Enfields.

There are 7 in my house now (2 LB No.4 mk.I*'s, but one is sportered, so they're NOT the same...).

By my reckoning, that only leaves about 70 versions left to buy... But I could field an infantry section now, if somebody carries my shotgun...

:)

Looks like I'm only one of many Enfields guys... Still, Mosins and SKS are lurking in the shadows, not too too far from me... :)

gun show out my way at the end of the month. Can't afford anything new to me, but a couple of bucks in the pocket anyway. there might be an old whatever that needs to be saved from bubba.

Umm, I help run an online museum with a bunch of my stuff being featured there - where does that leave me???

And the are NO pimped rides in MY garage, Biatch!

+1 for the broke-ass students- you know you've got a problem when you end up spending your student loan installment on a .30-06 Norwegian-refurbed K98.
Still, now I need a Brazilian one...
