If you have a milsurp with a new stock because the price to restore it was to much please post a pic. I saw some nice stocks from Boyd's for milsurps and they look cool with the cheek rest. Lets see your mods to your milsurp! In my opinion a Jungle Carbine is a modded original but it was modded at the factory and looks killer.

Ok I'll play.

This is a Gew 98 that survived WWI and went into hiding for a bit, which was converted to K98 specifications by the Nazi's, was then captured at the end of WWII, and then sent to Israel where it was later converted to 7.62x51mm NATO. The stock is a new one from around 1950 something. Given the circumstance I guess it meets your criteria!

I purchased this rifle off the EE minus the stock and hardware. It previously sported a plastic abomination that looked like it'd be out of place in a Sci-fi movie (I was kind enough to let the seller keep it). Since I had a spare stock that I lovingly had also saved from the hands of bubba (Painted in someone's idea of urban camo). I had a hand guard and hardware so I thought it was worth the effort to preserve a rifle whose history would be hard to repeat:

I'll play too. This one is not quite "modern" but it was bought from one of the Sponsor Dealers because it looked interesting.

It is a 1911 Swiss K-11 that was rebarreled with a 6.5x55 barrel, restocked, and fitted with a set of Walther target sights. It is a good bet that this was done in Sweden, as it was part of a shipment of Swedish rifles that were imported into Canada.

It does well when fired in the prone position, but it really shines when you shoot it standing. The stock appears to be made especially for a Standing position shooting and it is very well balanced. The front sight is a bit wider than usual, which should help pick up a moving target faster, and there is a muzzle brake to help keep the barrel down upon firing. (The muzzle brake is inclined at a slight angle to counteract the torque of the bullet in the barrel when fired.) This, combined with the choice of a straight pull action that will give a very fast second shot, would point in the direction of a special rifle made up for only one target event that I can think of ---the Running Deer.

It is insanely accurate, and some of the Members here who have shot it were really impressed with the accuracy and the speed of cycling the action for a second shot. The local Gun Club has a bit of a "Running Deer" shoot coming up, and if I do not have to work that weekend, this rifle is going to be on the range that day.

The only thing I am going to have to do is take that spacer off the end of the butt stock. Being over six feet tall, I do have long arms, but the previous Swedish owner must have been descended from a Gorilla as the length-of-pull is around 15 inches.

Buffdog, I wish I never shot that gun ^^!! I can't get it out of my mind and the worst part is I can't buy one of my own because it's one of a kind!!

Dang it!!:)

Bottom Rifle in the picture...

My first VZ24. My Father bought it when he came to Canada in the late 50's. Promptly had the bolt handle bent, Hensoldt Wetzlar optics added, and then added about 3" to the butt...
Was a real live smith who did this work, and did a lot of Mauser work in the Kitchener/Guelph area.

"...a Jungle Carbine is a modded original..." Um, no. They're called No. 5 rifles for a reason.
"...Fajen stock..." Cryin' shame they closed. They and Bishop made some very high end stuff for very reasonable prices. Suspect the tree hugger killed both.

91/30 Mosin Nagant, don't remember the exact year for that rifle with a NcStar scout scope mount and one of my Redfield scopes mounted.

This rifle shot excellent no matter what ammunition or the weather conditions. Hit clay pigeons at around 350 yards I would say 90% of the time.

The boys are being very generous in sharing the pics that you have requested. You have been somewhat more stingy with the pics that guys are asking for in your "boob job" thread. Maybe some tit for tat is in order. :p
