I enjoy most of Paul's videos but this isn't a fair one to me. He is using, what I believe from my aging memory, is a 180 series rifle. Let him try my 583 with trushot stabilizer.
I absolutely agree on the mag limits. So disappointing but offset by its fun and non-restrict status.

The AR is already better just on its technical merits, but if the AR was NR it would be a superior choice.

Owned both; I only owned the Mini 14 a short time. I liked the rifle, but I did not like how it shot. Period.

The biggest advantages of the AR are its modularity and the never-ending options of aftermarket parts that are available to customize it.

I use my AR's often, both my mini are deep in my safe.

The rifle that pattern like a buckshot load.

FWIW the Mini-14 target models are deadly accurate, the ranch models don't seem to be much better than a shotgun.

With no prior experience shooting the Mini I grouped less than an inch at 100m with PMC 55 FMJ through a stranger's target Mini. I was pretty damn impressed, almost went out and bought one. I have owned lots of 58x series guns. I currently have three in different configurations. They are pretty decent shooters but I haven't found any factory ammo that will do less than 2"/100m.

the Mini gives me the feeling of being a rancher riding a horse and shooting yotes.

I liked his video. The Mini had/has a special place in time. in the USA it was during the assault rifle ban time, and here it has residual effect as being a Non restricted. Since I grew up in that time it will always have a warm spot for me.

If the AR was N/R it would be my go to... right now I m phasing it out the Mini for my Wk180 which is just dandy!
