the wheels are the hard part to make; they angle out at the top rather than at 90 degrees to the ground and also the rims are angled out relative to the hub. I am told that it was done so that mud would fall free of the axle. Don't know if that is true but it seems reasonable
I made this on the weekend from 5/8" Brass rod, 1/4" Brass rod, drill press, assorted files and sand paper. Took a couple of hours. No I need a base for it so I can test fire...
Would it be possible to have the drawing of the Sea Coast Mortar PM'd to me? I have been watching it for a while and getting my stuff together to make one. Any information would be appreciated.
Cheers, Scroggins
I bought from pocketcannons and it arrived no issue.. it just happens to fit a .30 cal perfectly and might have enough power to make it halfway through a 2x4 and fly backwards 20 feet.. based on pure speculation as no one ever would try and have fun with one l
That naval cannon also comes in 13" barrel - 70 cal to shoot a .690 ball. I have the 69 and it is a lot of fun to shoot and really barks. There is also an 18" barrel 70 cal field artillery piece but it is quite expensive. They are all quite accurate and the smaller ones are fun but I needed more bang for my buck....!
Any one here have cannon plans they could share? I want to turn a 6" working example out of steel on my min-lathe.
Haven't been able to find any free plans on the net.
Can anyone suggest what a safe chamber dia to wall thickness ratio for steel is? I have seen everything from 2.5 to 7 so I'm a little perplexed.
