Mini-master

The first batch of Sidewinders are being shipped to their new owners as we write. Now all we need is to hear what Wanstalls is going to do. It is odd that NAA wants 200 units for a run on Sidewinders but only 35 for the mini-master. What's with that?

I dont understand why they couldnt make it so that you can just swing the cylinder closed. Having to hold the "Knurled Pin" in so it clears the "Pin Retention Tab" is a bit of a PITA. (At 0:56 in the video)

If they had a little less travel on that pin, the cam on the tab would be sufficient to let you just swing the thing closed without banging anything up.

I bet I could fix that.

Babyseal, I would not be surprised if they change this in the near future. The owner of NAA said on his forum that there will be some tweaks in the coming weeks. It is probably better that we are not the first to have the Sidewinder. By the time guns get up to Canada most of the problems have been fixed and we don't have to deal with it. It is the only bonus I can think of being slow to our market. I just hope Wanstalls or someone brings them up. Wanstalls seams ready to import but time will tell. NAA won't have their first set of early bird orders done till the end of October. Then they figure a ramp up to 100 units a month for a while.

The first owner of the Sidewinder has posted a picture of his little revolver. Notice the serial number "EB001". He has said having the first Sidewinder has put him in a difficult situation. Should he shoot it or keep it in the safe for collector status. Down in the U.S.A. this has more significance than up here in Canada.

Lucky guy to have the first one. Now I wonder if the dream of having one up here will come true or stay a mirage just out of reach.

Unfortunitly we won't be seeing the Sidewinder by Christmas with these supplie issues. Here is Sandy's (owner of NAA) Latest news letter.

October Soapbox – A Small Delay
I've recently learned that we don't expect to ship the second batch of Sidewinders until the very end of this month. While we bear some responsibility at the factory for this slip, we are suffering a supplier who's not particularly responsive to our needs. In the meantime, we wait (while he certainly can be replaced, it's a process that itself takes several months to complete so there is no immediate light on the horizon).

We are also aware of the time cost to get it right.

Like many of you, I feel some anxiety, disappointment, anger and frustration with this delay. I know how eager you are to get this important new piece. Like many of you, I'd hoped we be further along in the process. I assure you that we're similarly eager to introduce this to a market beyond the few visitors to this Soapbox.

Like none of you, I feel a little embarrassed about my occasional ability to hit date targets for this project (I've heard that's happened to some other manufacturers in years past). Stuff happens.

I'm eager to meet your needs/wants, and request and appreciate your patience.

The Sidewinder is on it's way to becoming mainstream with the production wrinkles being worked out. Now it is up to Wanstalls to make a deal with NAA to import them. If you the public want one make sure you let Wanstalls know about it and this lets them get a number count on how many to purchase. You may have left an interested thread reply in the past but that was awhile ago and Wanstalls may want a recount.
