Wonder if anyone else is experiencing this with their M&P 22 or what the possible fix is. Been to the range twice now with it and have fired roughly 200 plus rounds through it using Winchester bulk package 1280 FPS ammo.
The gun will not cycle the first round to chamber the next and does not completely open to extract the second round or if it does it doesn't go all the way back to catch the next shell.
The next eight shells after that the gun runs like a champ, no issues at all. So, thinking it had to do with ten rounds in the magazine, I just loaded up five and the same thing happened, first two hung up and the remaining three worked. So then I ran the magazine with five and then quickly replaced it with a ten round mag (I have three of them) and no issues at all.
So after some more testing I came to the conclusion that if I let the gun sit for a couple of minutes between magazines it takes a bit to "warm" up the slide to work properly because as long as I keep firing there are no issues at all.
The gun is new and I cleaned it before the first range session and then again before the second thinking maybe I didn't do a good enough job the first time. I oiled the gun as per instructions found within the owners manual.
Anyone else finding the same happening to their M&P 22

A lot of rimfire pistols and rifles have feeding issues until the springs wear it, or there may be slight burrs in the cartridge channel in the magazine itself, my Mossberg 715T mags had slight burrs that would cause FTF's.

Load and unload the mags over and over and see if that helps out.

I don't have any experience with that pistol in particular but its a common issue with rim fires.

I am using Hoppe's #9 lubricating oil and placing it as per the owners manual. One drop on each side just above the safety and one on the barrel.

The very first thing you do is try different kinds of ammo and see if the problem goes away. Some guns don't work well will certian types of ammo.

I did try a couple different kinds but they were still different Winchester bulk packs so more or less the same thing. I do have some minimags on hand, I will try them next time out and see how it goes.

I also have a new M&P 22, so far ran 500 rds of SK Standard Plus, one FTF, and the slide didn't lock open on last 2 mags.. she was really filthy at this point, I cleaned her up last night, will be back at range tomorrow to test.

As others have said, rimfire firearms can be very picky, try a different brand of ammo.

I'd choose a better lube...

I'm all ears, what do you suggest. I also have the Remington "rem oil" that comes in a 10 oz. spray can but didn't use that as I'm sure the over spray is likely to get everywhere but where I need it.

I use G96 in my m&p 22... works great. I had a lot of issues with winchester ammo, will not use it in my m&p at all now. I only use remington goldens or cci bullets. only cci's i have tried are the tactical ones. neither brand caused me a single problem and i am about 1200 rds into it with them. I clean after every second trip to the range.
Downside to picky ammo is the good brands are even harder to come by these days. The cheap .22 rounds are stating to stock up on shelves now.

its the ammo iv had it happen too stay away from winchester white box and federal 40grain champ blue box… use cci mini mags remington golden bullet remington yellow jackets and the 525 federal 36 grain work great

The M&P 22 I own has been a champ with everything right out of the box, I have fired over 1000 rounds and zero trouble I did the first cleaning on it after about 4 or 500 round and wow was it filthy but it kept on going I noticed that the factory lube was a grease not an oil maybe point your pistol in that direction? I hope you figure it out mine is a champ I brag it up any chance I get

the one thing I did notice though was the one factory mag it came with loaded ten rounds perfectly but I ordered a 3 pack from irunguns when they first got them in and they are all pinned to 9 so there is some discrepancy on that last round for sure??

Went to the range yesterday and the same thing happened. Maybe I am using too much oil and that could be gumming things up. I am going to clean it up again and use very little oil and see how that goes.

I clean it up and there is a little residule oil on it, but really i lightly lube the slide to help that out. As you use it more you will see wear marks where you should be putting some lube. I have found that with the dirty nature of .22 ammo, the more lube inside the gun leads to more dirt.
