mitchell mausers

x2

it's not like mitchell sells anything real, they're all refinished/restamped or reworked, none are original

ooh ooh, maybe get the multi thousand dollar "deaths head" mauser....bwaa ahahahahah what a crock!

WELL I am happy to see that the above know what the fellow is selling.... Goes to show that some folks on CGN are savvy gun people....

There was no such thing as a 'tanker' K98 either. There was a carbine made for mountain troops though.
Now write this out 100 times, "Armoured types do not and did not use rifles. There is no space in a tank for a rifle."

I think he gets that, he mentioned they were in .243 etc.

thanks skippy some people dont read my question:D i drive a lav 3 at work i know what can fit in a armourd vehicle and tankers in the canadian army and most western armies carry a carbine in the tank ie c8,m4,aug para,

No problem, I've noticed that A LOT of people don't read the posts they reply to ;)

Mitchell's Mausers: A humped-up, refurbished this year in the USA, Yugo rifle at twice the price of original and still collectible examples from virtually every other dealer! What's not to like?

I know of no importers in Canada and yes they are not very reputable. It would be cheaper to have one done up by a local Gunsmith then importing one yourself. Another possibilty is a Spanish Mauser FR-8 in 7.62, just about the same lenght and feel in my opinion.

The tanker rifle at mitchells is not saying it was an orignal German "tanker" dude, what they advertize is correct in that it was a specially made i.e. shortened Yugoslavian made mauser for use by their tank forces in the fifties. So you are correct there was no K98 TANKER, BUT wrong in that there was an M48 variant issued to tank crews in Post WWII yugo.

please get fact straight b4 bs on this forum.

LOL - maybe YOU ought to get your facts straight. There NEVER was a TANKER Mauser in service in Yugoslavia of ANY flavor!!!

Perhaps before playing "expert" on Yugo Mausers you ought to consider reading "Yugoslav and Serbian Mausers" by Branko Bogdonovich. It's the "bible" on Yugo Mausers and is written by Zastava Crvena's official historian with access to all factory records.

The Mitchell's "Tanker" Mausers are FANTSY PIECES made up by Mitchells on contract with Yugo factories in recent years. Of course Mitchell's advertises it fraudulently.

I've actually SPOKEN to Branko many times. I can assure you he is right and you are WRONG.

Sorry, I forgot your the "expert". I guess seeing as you and Branko are so tight on the subject I stand down.

Anyway JCbruno only wanted some info on how he could get one of these neat little rifles. But instead as usual in this forum people were only more concerned about mocking him for even considering a purchase from Mitchells. Oh well, I'm sure if the tanker was available in Canada, it probably would do quite well.:D

Well, I'd buy one for a reasonable price, but i'd do it knowing that it was a remanufactured rifle. I'd like it for that becasue I wouldn't worry about damageing a collectible, probably put a scout scope on it. No one mocked him, we warned him, It's mitchell's we mocked and they deserve it.....I've made purchases in the past that I wish some one had done the same for me.

Sorry, I forgot your the "expert".

I'm not an expert "anything". but before I speak in absolutes, I go and read the reference material I have on my bookshelf

I'm not "tight" with Branko, but I do know him. And I do know the tankers are fantasy pieces. You can quote me on that! :p

Anyhow, I'm not traqshing Mitchells' product here except to say that they are fraudulently advertised. they probably shoot and work just fine. Questar could probably hook you up, but it would be cheaper to modify an M48 already in the country.
