Sadly, I read a positive review of a MM product in American Rifleman, of all places.
Funny that the bolts and butt plate are buff shined. That in itself is a giveaway to their non-originality. Are Gibbs 1903 A4's any better? The guy that does the Military Arms Channel gives those a good review as accurate shooters. They run around $1100.00.
Price are crazy but at least, they advertise them as refurbished, price way too high. I still prefer my RC K98 with mismatched partshttp://www.miltecharms.com/
Now if you really want Pimpshined and Bling is your Middle name, they even ship these to you in a pine crate.
Gibbs makes reproductions and is very upfront about that. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with that.
Mitchell's Mausers are not up front about the origin of their rifles. This is a problem, of course.
That's what I'm talking about. Not everyone wants Rommel's wife's K98 with "I love you" carved into the stock, as a retirement investment collector piece! I have a good one but most of the stamps are pinged, even so I don't want to shoot it all the time because it does have some value. I'd buy a Garand or K98 or something that was a total refurb just as a shooter to have fun with, and if I run some corrosive ammo through it and forget to clean it... so what! If Mitchell was up front about them like some others are it would be a whole lot easier to swallow. The prices would have to be reflective though and there in lies the problem. Some people still think these 21st century rebuilds are collector guns and pay too much thus driving up prices for what are essentially - toys. Does anyone on here actually own a Mitchell (and willing to admit it)? I wonder what they shoot like?
They're an American company so we we're lucky enough not to see many up here.
