MOA and your rifles!

I did learn the hard way that on the internet if you say something you have to bring the proofs... in french we says out loud ... POUR LE CRAIRE Y FAUT LE WAIR.... that mean you must see it to believe it... JP.

I have owned many factory rifles that would consistently deliver sub moa, and I still own a few that will consistently deliver sub 1/2moa. My 260 Cooper will do 1/2moa or better on a regular basis, as will my Tikka tactical in 223, my Tikka Varmint in 6.5x55, and my Anschutz 1730 in 22 Hornet. My RPA custom in 6.5x47L averages 1/4moa to 3/8moa.

I dont know were there is one, but this caliber is awsome mine is a shooter topped by a LR Sightron hitting at 800 yards is not that hard, here a picture of a coffee can with 10 shots tru it shot across our lake up north at 810 yards, the can is 6 X8 inch... JP.

I built my 260Rem on a Stevens 200 action with a Shillen 27.5" barrel. I lightened the trigger and skim bedded the action into a Chaote tactical stock (Barrel and Stock purchased from NorthShore Barrels. Thanks Sean!)

With this setup and 123gr amax' over 43.6gr of H-4350 it WILL do 1/2 MOA consistantly. This load was developed at 300m with consistant 1.5" results.

Skeets at 300 stand no chance! 10 skeets 10 shots!

Total rifle cost less optics = $900.

I know you were looking for factory rifle results, but the savage action is so user friendly you can rebarrel, headspace and caliber change all yourself!!

What I'm curious about is what kind of groupings your rifles tend to shoot

Please understand that there are differences in windage and elevation group sizes. Little elevation mean's accurate ammo. Minimum windage means either good wind calling or nil weather. If you handload, strive for minimum elevaion and ignore all windage.

I've shot 1/3 moa elevation with my Savage 12 223 at 300 yards.

Well - i think folks have to realize that shooting 1/2 MOA consistently puts the onus on the shooter. There must be an awful lot of excellent shots here. Regrettably, I'm not one of them, even though I trained to shoot competitively when I was younger.
Unless I practice regularly, I'm lucky to get 1 MOA with a good rifle and load.

First time shooting my T/C Icon PH brand new...
First target @ 100 meters,4 shots in the same hole...

Second target @ 200 meters

No load developement.

Caramel that is good shooting at 800 yds you shot about 1 moa what rifle and chambering was this.

Well I'm not green at shooting, but I've only been at it for 8 months (that's how old my membership at the range is). I just tried a bunch of reloads in the .270 Win X-bolt and got 1.508 MOA at 40 yards. I shot 5-round groups and 10 different loads. This was also out of a gun rest and my groups ranged from .463-.866".

You guys should be competing. :)

I've never broken 1 MOA yet. I'm thinking this year will be the year! :D Here are my two groups closest to MOA.

M14s 5shots @ 100 yards (last shot was the one one the right, SONOFA#####!!)

Out of the box, under 2" is good. Then clean up the barrel channel, bed the action. That shouldm get you in the 1.00 to 1.5" range.

Then develop a good handload for it. That should get you around 1".

Some rifles have good barrels and even bolt contact, etc. and will do better.

Don't confuse the bragging on here to the average rifle in the real world.

I agree.

My factory Remington 700 P in .308 has been good to me so far. I have around 150-200 rounds through it with an average of around .6xx" at 100 yards. Tightest being .306", biggest being slightly over 1".

Although I haven't had a chance to shoot further than 100, I feel if I can do my part, it will maintain at least 3/4 moa. I will update in the spring once I can stretch her legs out some more

Here's a shot from experimenting with my first hand loads

Here's the first grouping out of my friends 700 VLSS .223 with a 3x9 at 100 during sight in. With whitebox winchester value pack wally world ammo. I'm hoping it was just a fluke! haha
