"Slightly" out of touch lately... probably discussed already. Is there modern rifles in 22 Hornet chambering? If not, then how can I put togethert one. For example, which action can be re-barreled into 22 Hornet. Am I limited to searching for a used one? Thank you beforehand for all kind of input.

The Hornady 8th Edition manual shows their test rifle as a Ruger #3 with a 1 in 16 twist.
They also use the .224 diameter bullet but was there a time when the .223 bullet was the standard?
Just yesterday the question was raised about the diameter of an older H & R, was it originally loaded as a .223.
Speer used a Krico, and Hornady Vol. II used a Savage 340. In Vol II, the 40 grain .222 diameter was still in production,
and they also mention the .223 diameter bullet.
Sierra said the Pre WW II rifles used .223.

There may be more manufacturers chambering for the Hornet currently than in any other time in the past. It is a very popular cartridge in Europe and has regained popularity recently in North America. I shoot an Anschutz 1433.

I didn't know that Anschutz was out of the market, but there are used ones available. I bought a 1730 last year and traded it soon after, so some are circulating anyway.

I had a sweet little Zastava in 22 Hornet that sold on EE a few years back. It was in a mini-Mauser configuration and very accurate:

Personally, I would opt for a nice new CZ 527 if I were looking again, or try to find another mini-Mauser Zastava.
