Modern Hunter jamming issue

@OP: Out of the box, my MH was doing the exact same thing. Same light strikes, same binding just before it would go into battery, same sticking coming out of the mag.

At around 100 rounds I dropped ATRS an email...Shaun gave me exactly the same advice....and was right.

A couple of hundred heavily-lubricated rounds later and things are definitely smoothing up as the bolt, carrier and extension are breaking in.

Stay with the recommended light lubricants. I tried a grease (Wilson Ultima Lube) and it did not work well. G96, MPro-7 and Castrol 5w20 Synthetic have all worked well for me.

Whatever you use, just make sure there is a lot of it, and expect to be cleaning and stripping down the bolt and carrier every 20-40 rounds to begin with.

Please don't use any motor oils. We recommend G96

So I bought some Gen 3 Pmags way back when I ordered the rifle. From what I have gathered on gunnutz and from my own experiences is that they dont work in the MH. The IMI G2 works fine and I know ATRS sells them but I am just curious as to what else works well in the MH and where I can get them?

Thanks for your response Wade.

I was shooting mostly MFS surplus ammo. They are pointy FMJ.

My buddy shoots it in his M305 all the time and has never had any feed or misfire issues.

The Manufacturer specifically states "no cheap ammo".

Hmm, if I were atrs I think I'd make a budget version of the MH. One that shoots like a bone stock m305. Looser tolerances to allow for surplus ammo and overall functioning. I'd probably recommend that Rifle to potential customers that are just plinkers. For people concerned with the best accuracy they can get from a semi, I'd sell them the MH. It shouldn't be a surprise, but the MH has a match barrel. That means tight tolerances. I am still floored that people buy the MH and run surplus through it. Surplus ammo has loose and inconsistent powder charges, primers, neck tension, crappy projectiles that probably weoght + or - 10 grains from whats stated on the box and out of whack oal. None of those factors are conducive to accuracy.

Anyway, I'd make a product for the plinkers that could cycle the cheap stuff. The margins wouldn't be as good and so I'd have to make it up with high volume of sales. Maybe outsource? Is the action patented to atrs? If so atrs, please send me a cheque for my consultative services. ☺. Or send me an MH as payment

Where do people get off saying the m.h. is a $5000 rifle? I am sick of the mis-information that gets spewed on the internet.

Well when equipped to my specifications it's up there. Proof barrel, carbon fiber handguard ambi controls, furniture upgrades.. it's 3.7k for base model iqf I'm not mistaken.

If somebody wants to purchase and shoot a fake Springfield to shoot crap ammo that is fine however one can not compare what type of individual owns the two. It is very difficult to mass produce the NR Modern Sporting rifle in the ATRS shop for numbers to lower the price sufficiently enough. Even if the MH/V had a OEM barrel the fabrication of the lower will still bring it up in the upper echelon of firearms prices unless again it was subbed out for mass production.

I think ATRS is doing just fine with selling it the way we see it and if this Modern Sporter is out of ones price range, that is ok too. Purchase something else so the next potential owner waiting in line has the opportunity.

I know right, Same as people calling the MV a $4500-$5000 gun.
The MV is listed at $3350. That's about $300 more than a ACR and $500 more than a XCR.
Mine was $3350, then I added some upgrades... Do you add upgrades to the cost? Wouldn't that be like me saying, my Savage 10TR cost $2000, because I put it in a Cadex?
