Modern Varmint performs flawlessly at Surefire World Multigun Championship

Question: Beerbaron, are you sponsored by ATRS in any way?

No, but now that you mention it I think it is something for us to consider doing. We have never sponsored a shooter in any way, just some shoots and the returns from sponsoring a shoot are questionable. Possibly sponsoring a shooter would be a better use of advertising budget? Glad you brought it up.

Of course he is

Well seeing as you seem to know all the inside details off my company how about sending me the current inventory list. Being year end and that I HATE doing inventory you could save me a ton of time and an unwanted task?

I would ask how exactly you "know" that we sponsor anyone? You don't work for me or have anything to do with my business, yet you post B.S. with authority.

I just don't understand.... A few here want to sh1t on a Canadian company that took on incredible risk and expense to bring us a top end match grade auto loader with AR ergonomics. On other forums I had to stop reading because of the negativity...... Some underemployed doorknob bragging about only being able to afford a $2k truck going on a cyber insult rampage against ATRS and a venomous personal attack against the owner of ATRS as one example...... WTF???????? Why??? Because ATRS builds a great product with match grade care and high end craftsmanship and charges commensurate rates????

I ordered a MH as my direct response to such bull####. I for one believe such a high end self loader is just what the Dr ordered, and no I am not leaking money, but I do know how to work hard and save my money and will actually part with it for the right products.

I am proud to see a Canadian company like ATRS stepping up on all our behalf to produce a close tolerance match grade self loading rifle. As much as I wanted one, I couldn't justify the high quality Les Baer AR at well over $4k (exchange, brokerage, etc) being that it's restricted, thus not usable for hunting in Canada, but ATRS gives me an option I would otherwise not have.

I will be ordering a MV as well once I've received and played with my MH. It will probably take me at least another year to save the deposit for the MV, but when I get there, I hope I can convince ATRS to build me one in 6.8SPC.......

Here's a heart felt "well done" to ATRS!!!!!!!!!!!!

individuals are spending $3000 for Tavors and ACR's so this DI rifle is on par with a quality NR firearm.

Yup. There is a great deal of money being spent on NR firearms of all types. The best self loader going for the budget conscious is probably the stock Norc M1A.... However, even a pimped out Norc will get expensive (compared to its original purchase price) in order to crowd 2moa.

Of note: Quality costs. There is no free ride in life. Skilled precision work is expensive and it is something I am willing to pay for. On the flip side, I do not begrudge those who won't.

My Robarms is a wonderfully reliable and ergonomic non precision NR that cost around $2.5K+ when new. I would have happily paid another $1K for it if it were capable of driving tacks. I am however a realist and know that my Robarms will never be that tack driver. ATRS has stepped up with a precision self loading rifle that promises to shoot to an accuracy level that I seek in a high end rifle, and for a price point that is not out of line with the quality being offered.

One more comment: Please accept my apologies for dragging the OP off topic.

I'm not entirely sure what the deal is with the nay-sayers. If you're one of the folks talking down the product, have you actually used it and verified that it is not worth the price? Or are you just frustrated that the product might actually be desirable yet just slightly outside of your price range? Or is there something else to it? I think quite honestly that if I really didn't like the product, I wouldn't waste so much of my time saying negative things about it. I would focus more of my energy on things I do enjoy. Then again, that's just me. End rant.

Keep at it ATRS. At least until I've saved up enough money to buy one of your MV's, because I do want one.

Come on Guys, its Christmas, cut the poster some slack. I don't think he was the only one that thought the thread was an infomercial?

Candocad.

With all due respect, I don't have problems with questions, inflammatory remarks and insults however.........
A legit question was asked and then answered when I got back to the shop, in the meanwhile though some saw fit to post stuff they have no knowledge of.
Post what you KNOW or ask a question, just don't post stuff you have no clue about would be my suggestion.

Keep it up ATRS! The original subject of this thread proves your gun has what it takes. I'm actually astonished by some of these people. Everyone has wanted an NR AR and now that we have the closest we'll get and it easily hangs with and out-preforms AR's they're complaining. I seriously don't understand people. When I'm done paying off my MH after I've played with it a bit (hopefully next month I'll have it) I'm gonna be ordering an MV. Also, unrelated but any idea on an approximate ballpark on the Modern Magnum. I need a semi .300 AR type rifle like the Nemo Omen in my life. Thanks for the hard work ATRS!

Given the tiny market and the fact that in the Magnum we don't have any "pre made" parts like bolts assemblies, mags and even furniture available, we have shelved the Modern Magnum project. At least for now. With the concerns on price on the 2 rifles we already make I can't see many sales for the Magnum, which will be significantly more $$ due to having to make literally everything in-house. In an economy that is booming it might have been a risk to take, but here where business in general is being driven off by both governments, the risk is simply higher than I can wager on. To produce the Magnum will require the purchase of a few more machines, which then also requires a larger facility, all of which adds up to a significant investment in a questionable time.

That is unfortunate, but is very understandable. Maybe over time, with some momentum of MH and MV sales and the capital cost amortization that might hopefully accompany that momentum, we can only hope that the magnum version might someday be a future option........ If we can move the Marxist/Socialist anti prosperity government out of office, maybe the economy will also provide some greater degree of financial stability to the shooting community. As a business, it is best not to unnecessarily overextend lest the business run aground. I look forward to the day I can take delivery of my MH!!!!!!!

This would be an intriguing NR version for Canada.

Guys the MV will have no problem digesting quality bulk 55gr ammunition. American Eagle etc will be absolutely no problem, and as others have reported should produce roughly MOA accuracy. I shoot mostly 55gr ammunition through mine. Handloading/purchasing high quality match ammunition with a match grade bullet will only improve your accuracy and ability to defeat the wind at longer ranges. I have run a couple hundred of the 69 grain sierra's through mine with good results, though the 1-8 twist barrels will run almost any weight you can find. Most important thing for reliable function on this type of rifle is to keep the BCG/Upper receiver reasonably clean and properly lubricated.

Personally I would steer clear of Norc or steel cased bulk ammunition, but I generally follow that rule on any quality rifle. That being said... I'm sure the MV would run this ammo just as good as any other rifle, just seems like a waste to shoot questionable ammunition like that through such a high quality rifle/barrel.
