Modern varmint vs bushmaster acr ?

You’re on a roll today buddy! Another quoted for truth!
Although with the after market parts on your ACR, it might as well be a custom gun!

Yeah. I never just look at what initial buy in costs are. Usually optics and accessories end up close to the same cost or more than your standard NR black rifle once fully kitted, at least the way I build them.

The only rifles of mine that I really worry about shooting to much to fast are my Modern series rifles which are both Proof Research barrels that cost ~$1600ea to replace.

Hence why I intend to at some point build a second MV with a CHF CL barrel, maybe just as a spare upper to start with a lower later on if that is something Rick would consider, which would free up my proof barreled upper to become a DMR.

Why do you figure a Proof barrel costs $1600?

Proof barrel cost $800 US = $1020 Cad

$$50 import fee + shipping+ taxes,should be about $1200?

Also there are cheaper CFW barrels, C.A for one.

There's were lots of people that have had a modern hunter that found them to be inaccurate and jam o matics regardless of quality of handloads and match ammo. Most sold them at a loss silently and moved on. I would rather get a bcl 102 and change out the parts that you want. It will still likely come in cheaper than your average modern hunter. I feel the odds of getting a proper functioning bcl 102 is higher than a modern hunter. Either way you're rolling the dice. Sounds like you you were lucky and have one that functions well.

I own most nr rifles. I find my varminter balances better than the my non dmr nr acr and between the two I would prefer the varminter. Either way you won't be disappointed.

What I don't understand is how so many people allegedly seem to have problems with these rifles, yet only a few have actually posted anything of substance. I am certain ATRS would look after them if in fact there really was a problem. Between myself and 6 friends we have a total of 12 complete Modern series rifles. Most of us have both a MH and MV with matched serial numbers. I have a 2nd upper for my MH. Not one of us has a problem in the least with accuracy or reliability. Now with that said none of us consider ourselves to be in any way a gun plumber, so have followed the suggestions for lube and ammo that ATRS has provided. Nothing changed, no mods and miraculously the guns run flawlessly.
IIRC ATRS is saying that they have over 1000 of their Modern series rifles out in the public now. If they really were that bad I doubt they would still be in business. Do the math, that a fair number of dollars and people tend to vote with their wallets.
What am I missing here? The rifles work, the back up and service is top tier from what I have heard in the event of a problem. They continue to upgrade and improve their guns. I am at a loss.

Not sure what your training for, but wouldn't you want to train with the same equipment, that you're gonna use in the real deal?

My ACR is my Go-to rifle, My Wife is the X95. I dont own restricteds except for 1 pistol that I also use to train with.

I have over 5K rounds thru my ACR, If anything It proved to me that I can count on it.

I take all sorts of training classes, And plan on taking even more next year. The more you train the more proficient you become. Shooting at a static range does nothing to improve skills.

doesnt work for me either, he's not alone

You should provide some cheese with your posts. Lots of whine but no cheese. :)
You want it NOW and they can't deliver it today. Waaaaaa
They don't offer a relatively obscure caliber and nothing else will do. Waaaaaa
How many other small manufacturers offer the 30AR that you just gotta have? I ask simply as I am too lazy to bother looking.

Let me know where in 2018 and I’ll try and join you. Good times!

Since they now offer the "factory" version with a basic mil-spec barrel perhaps Rick would sell you a complete basic "factory" version upper at a reduced cost? The spare uppers with the Lilja barrel are $1700 so I don't see why he wouldn't sell an upper with the cheap barrel for a reduced price.

This would serve your purpose. Save the good barrel you already have and use the cheap upper for blasting away. It doesn't hurt to ask.

I believe it's Echo Charlie on here who just re-barrelled a full length Swiss Arms via Herron Arms.

Waiting for his range report since his flashhider is integrated so shortening everything by 2". I believe his custom barrel was a Krieger blank.

Former owner of both the Swiss and ACR, great rifles. I sure the MV is in there too.

No clue, I have an ACR in 30RAR, it's a rather impressive hunting round is why I want it in an even lighter platform. The MH is too heavy

If the barrel change out is so easy, why not just buy a couple of cheap barrels?
Why would you need to uppers?

RPM's hand guard is also lighter than the Plastic malpul one and way slimmer. His hand guard was one of the big reasons I kept my ACR. and everyone that shoots my ACR are blown away buy how much nicer it feels with a few simple upgrades.

I handled a DMR version and I wanted to cry... That rifle is totally off balance and is pretty much a bench only rifle.

Once Im done my 102 build. Ill be looking at getting a custom lightweight barrel for my ACR and getting rid of the quick detach barrel option.

400 bucks? I've been looking for other options, the enhanced - rails coming out the yang is a bit much, but hoooooooo costly... Can I just borrow yours. lol
