Modern Varmint What IF?

I know it is probably impossible and might lead to some hurt feelings, but I would be interested in a price estimate.

The idea is a good one though.

How would the "el cheapo" version be distinguished from the eye popping expensive version? I've selected extreme word choices here to illustrate the point. If there is truly value in the Gucci version, that gets watered down on the resale market when the lines between the two become blurred. Weatherby has the MKV and they have the Vanguard, easily distinguished 'cause one's a MKV and the other is a Howa.

So, how does this get marketed and at what price differential? How will an existing owner feel after popping $5k and then seeing them sell for, say $2.5k unless there is a very distinct difference and market distinguisher between the two. Will the lower cost ones be sloppy compared to the tight tolerance top end ones?

Springfield and others do it: M1A loaded @ $2k, and National Match @ $3k....

Having said all that, I'd jump at the lower priced model if it presented good value and it was accurate.

That what I am thinking.

I'd be in for sure, you've almost had me several times with the current offering....but I just can't do it at 4K+.

Make it in XCR territory.and you'll have me on the first pre order,I would "prefer" a 18.6" barrel though over the 20,as I'll be running it with a red dot.

But if uppers are cheaper then current offerings I could see myself have several like I do with my AR's

Price point is always a factor, but yes, I think if you made a bare bones gun, people would jump on it. A lot of people want a non-restricted AR for bush hunting and truck guns, so they're going to get beat up and never shoot over 100 yards.

I know at least one person that bought one of your rifles and stripped all the expensive parts off it and swapped them out for bargain brand parts, just because he didn't want that much money tied up in a gun.

Don't tease the gun nutz like that. Anybody and everybody with a sporting rifle in .223 is going to want one, including the people that don't own one or have never shot a sporting rifle in .223. Its a sure win.

If these could be built bare bones and were compatible with a standard AR barrel I'd be in for one and a second upper with only a BCG. I already have a non restricted length 300BLK barrel in my collection of parts and I have lots of stocks, buffer tubes, and an AP Custom carbon fiber forend I'd throw on it.

Ah okay, I was unaware of this and assumed it wasnt as easy as an Ar15 conversion. Thanks

I was told earlier that although the bolt face opening on 6.5 Grendel and x39 are the same they vary in the depth of the face so you can not safely use a 6.5 bolt for x39.
I personally hate the idea of a rifle like this in x39.

That way, the turn around time will shorter, right ? it's like that you can made them faster than the customized model.

I really like one but waiting 4 to 6 months is really long.

Have you guys built one of these? Just wondering if you had if the 1-2 moa was what resulted or if that's just an educated guess? I think that's probably accurate enough for me and a lot of people too. Probably still more more accurate than a lot of other nonrestricted options. Most would be 2 moa+. What is the expected accuracy of the current mv?

I'm with everyone else here. I don't really like the furniture options ATRS has and that has been a big reason for me not buying a MV. If I could provide my own furniture and get the rifle for a discounted price I would scoop one up real fast. I still would prefer a high end barrel and guts.
