Modulus Arms 80 Percent AR15 / AR10 Lower BUILD KITS

again,,,nothing wrong with getting one from the states,,not exactly hard,,seen it done many,,many times,,no rules against it,,not sure where this gets the ITAR thing,,,CBSA lets you bring it in the country,,they get their HSt and everyone's happy,,it's a loophole, everyone knows it,,,but until they close it up,,,get them while you can,,,and even if they DID eventually close it up,,,these AR lowers are very easy to do on a cheap CNC milling machine,,not to mention 3D printing,,,so even if they did try and shut down 80% receiver,,they can never stop anybody from building one,,,hell,,there is even a bolt together kit,,,no milling required LOL...lots of guys are just buying them as a novelty anyways,,,or a just in case thing,,the law or government will never be able to stop these things,,it's just imposible to do,,

There is more to finishing an 80% lower than simply drilling a few holes. In the 80% state the entire trigger group pocket needs to be finished, milled out and pins holes drilled. If this was a real legal issue every single machine shop/CNC shop would be inspected/raided everyday as they have Aluminum ingots and machining equipment that could easily produce firearms. Not to mention every company or person with a 3D printer out there!

Lots of things are sold that can be made/converted into something illegal (hell a 10-22 can), it is the purchasers responsibility to make sure they don't do anything illegal with product. Follow the laws and don't be stupid, stupid people are the reason for stupid laws!

Doesn't look like it's too hard.

80% AR 15 Lower Receiver

The 80 Lower receiver can be finished with the 80% Lower AR-15 Jig and held to tight tolerances by the DIY Gunsmith. The 80% Lower Mag well is fully broached for a perfect fit every time.
THE 80% AR 15 LOWER RECEIVER IS MIL-SPEC AND MACHINED FROM 7075-T6 FORGINGS

The operations left to be completed on our 80% lower is as follows:

fire control group
trigger pin
hammer pin
trigger slot
safety selector hole.

In any case I am interested to see someone with a finished product when theirs arrive and they decide to finish it, so please post pictures.

Yes. There are rules against simply having one mailed into the country. US legislation known as "ITAR" makes 80% lower receivers a controlled good. Not a firearm, a controlled good. If you are caught exporting one by the US authorities, or they have enough interest in applying for extradition against you, or simply filing a warrant against you to be executed the next time your shadow darkens their border crossing, you could be in a load of troubles. IE US Federal Prison Time.

Two countries involved when you import / export. While CBSA doesn't have an issue with the import, USCBP likely very much will if they catch you.

I'll try and post pics when done I bought mine as a father/daughter project . We are both excited to see how it turns out both for are own reasons. She just wants her own AR and me well more time with her.

Ya I have 2 lowers to do just in case there is a steeper that expected learning curve. Also why I bought the heavy-duty jig with the steel inserts so it will be a little more forgiving to learn with. She thinks it will be cool to use her name as the registered serial#. And as for cost your right I would pay 10 times as much to get my teen age daughter to spend 1/2 as much time with me.

I'm really hoping they're just sold out and waiting for more stock. The lack of jigs, product descriptions and the milling tools on their website doesn't bode well though.

3 more coming from the US,,couldn't get an answer from Lockhart,,,hopefully they will put theirs back on the site,,

Strange, new company, not answering questions and items completely vanished from the site, does not Instill confidence! I want to get an ar10 blank and try doing it myself, but with this I think I will stick with the tried and true, "other sponsor" that brings these in on a regular basis! To bad, a little competition help keep their pencils sharp and prices reasonable!

strange indeed,,new on here,,,and no response,,and product dissappear from their site,,seems Lockhart got a case of the chickens,,,if you guy really want these 80%...you could go with a proven name in Canada,,,,DLASK has nice sets of 80% lowers with their 100% uppers for $230.00 right now,,,you know they aren't fly by night..

Yea I kinda wasn't going to mention their name as this is their blog, however your not saying the lower and upper together for that price??

If you placed an order and haven't been contacted yet I suggest you get on the phone with Samuel.

"Good morning,

We wanted to give you an update on your Modulus Arms order. We're going to do our best to reach out to all of our clients today and tomorrow in regards to modulus arms.

Our supplier "Modulus Arms" had a discussed arrangement with us. We had an initial order in with them and they were supposed to arrive here before we sold out.

I contacted modulus arms the day we started selling these, as we sold a ton, very quickly to have additional big orders rushed to us.

Basically the situation is, Modulus Arms changed their mind and informed us the other day that they aren't sure if they can fill our orders right now, due to potential ITAR rules (which shouldn't apply or play any part in these are they aren't considered a firearms part). They are simply checking in with the ATF to see if they can do this. I don't foresee any problems, however, I am forced to wait until this is clarified for them.

We're still waiting back to hear from their attorneys before we can make a call on whats going to happen.

I wanted to let you know, this is the complete opposite of what we were expecting and we feel terrible for the delay. We sincerely want to apologize for the delay and the confusion.

We would like to extend to you two options:
1) We can keep you informed on whats happening, as this should only take a very short period of time before we know whats going on.

2) We can offer an immediate full refund.

Once again, we're sorry for this unexpected mishap. We're going to do everything in our power to get this resolved promptly, and get these super awesome lowers and jigs out to clients.

-Samuel Lockhart"

Nothing against Lockheart as they are doing their best to get us new products unfortunate that this is happening especially when entering a new market. Hopefully it all gets sorted and Lockhart can take all of our money again!
