Moose hit by a car

that would severally suck to hit a moose with a car. I wonder what the car looks like. I guess the person that hit it didnt have anything in the vehicle to finish it off with.

Reminds me of one time we were driving up north when around Angus we seen a elderly man on the side of a road that just hit a doe with his s-10. He was standing the side of the road with his foot on the deers neck, the deer swurming around (broken spine) and he's bashing its head in with a rock. It was quite the sight to see, you could see the jaws on peoples faces drop as they drove by. We stopped and were going to help ( I had a knife) He almost caused an accident from people watching him and not where they were going. It was pretty bad but I guess he wanted to put it out of its misery lol mission accomplished. ha

I wouldn't get too worked up about whether or not you called the moose in, you didn't kill it. Saying the moose died because you called it in is ridiculous. Judging from the picture's background and from your story it was in a residential area, I'm guessing the speed limit is 50km/h. Whoever hit the moose SHOULD have had enough time to react. I know first hand that moose can appear in front of you like lightning. I almost hit one 2 years ago & it scared the S**T out of me. The driver should have had enough time to slow down & not hurt the animal, he would have still had to be clipping along to break it's leg.

I am curious how the cop "put it out of it's misery," Moose have a lot of blood in them, and unless this has been moved I would expect to see it all over the ground, and on the moose itself.

By the way, that's a really nice coat on it, patches of white fur everywhere! You should try to keep the hide if you can, a provincial park/taxidermist/Cabelas/bass pro would probably love to have a piebald moose mount, even a young bull like that. Never mind that one antler's broken off, a taxidermist could mount it with another rack, or even a set of matching sheds.

He must have slapped a rear naked choke on the poor thing and choked it out like Jim Carey in Me, Myself and Irene.

in nova scotia it is not legal to pick up a road kill. deer is the most common road kill and if it is not too smashed up it usually gets picked up and eaten. it does not make dnr very happy if the get the call to pick up a road kill and when they get there the only sign of a deer is a little blood on the road. :d

and i believe DNR actually will get fresh kills butchered then give it to needy families or families that could use it(like my cousin and his 13 kids) something like that anywho waste not want not.
i have been on 2 moose vs car no fatality other than the moose quit the seen i tell ya
 
The guy that owns the property where the moose was killed, cleaned up the mess! Afterall, the thing was in the parking lot of his wood working shop. As for the bullet hole......... I can't tell ya! My neighbour gave me the details about how the animal was actually killed. I didn't see it either.

That's cute! Stranger things HAVE happened out here in the townships, that's for sure!! Where abouts are you scouting? Are you from the townships??

I have been doing lots of scouting for deer not too far from there and I have seen moose tracks......There may not be that many in the area but they are there.
