My moose/deer rifle for next season will likely be a Savage .270WSM. Apparently, about the same amount of recoil as a .270.

If the moose is in griz/brown bear country, a heavy should work great.
I use a gun in moose country that MAY help me with a griz with an ill temper. Same for deer you know.
Otherwise, straight in the lungs as usual with something halfway decent as previously mentioned.
