I dunno how rare my other Nagant is all non matching bits from all over . wait a min it could be a Finn , there was about 10 of em in the store i bought it from . but it had Свойство stalin Иосиф
stamped on it

Oh I expect it's an extra rare experimental variant that is of extreeem collector value:D

Don't have a clue what it means though, were all of them marked the same ?

I find it hard to believe Stalin was written on it in english anywhere. AFAIK, no production mosin ever had stalin's name on it.

And definitely, it never said "property of Joseph Stalin" in either a mix of russian/english or not.

Fluent? No. Capable? Yes. My wife immigrated from Russia.

The new Nagant project

I bow down humbly to the likes of Claven . who`s knwlege is unsurpassable .
and appologise to all the purists out there for the sacrelige i have performed .
Saying that I dont regret doing it . i like to shoot it and the pu type was the appropriate mount for this rifle . My intention was never to make a "genuine " sniper or to fool anyone .

I think the next project whowever could be the one to fool anyone . just to be sure that my 1941 tula "Свойство stalin Иосиф "marked and signed by some Vasilli guy . might be a rare one , i have come up with a radical sollusion to installing the mount without drilling anything . i think it will fool even claven .

Oh! good, that's just the laminated junk.............drill away.......dime a dozen.

Hmmmm, 1970's retro. Back when almost everyone was still sporterizing, rechambering, drilling/tapping. Few seemed to care.
I think everyone confirmed a lesson here. Original as was condition is where the money is.

Really, it takes very little time to find out if what you've got is a 'belly button' rifle (everybody's got one), or something that's a little bit more special. It could be thousands of dollars difference, and I don't think anybody would sneeze at that.

For example, who would think that the word "Polustuslaitos" on a Mosin, or an extra T stamped on a Lee-Enfield would have any special meaning?
