Hi,

So i've been reading through the forums and sites such as nutn fancy project watching reviews on the MN 91/30 and various scope mounts.
A numbers matching sniper rifle is out of the picture for my budget as I am a new shooter and also acquiring a 22 bolt action for learning.

I see that marstar and a few other supporters of CGN sell non-gunsmith installable scope mounts or weaver rails.

Do these require removing the rear sights or any other changes to the rifles?

Would they fit better with a round or hex receiver?
I'm looking at a bent bolt 91/30 for clearance and ease of use of the bolt, but not sure what mount I should get that is reasonably priced and solid.

What would be a good scope for a MN 91/30 for shooting beyond 500 metres?
I'm looking at maximizing the 7.62x54mm round as my 22 will be for target practice and short range/gopher control.

Are there any methods or mounts to mount a normal scope towards the rear of the rifle?

I do wear glasses, not too familiar with the different mounts/scopes and how that affects things.

I'd be using it more of a target practice/long range rifle, not a "scout" rifle if possible.

Thanks!

any scope mount I'm aware of that would mount to the sight would require a scope with long eye relief. There are youtube videos which show sttep by step how it's done, and there's no permanent alteration to the rifle, as the rear sight leaf comes right off. I know of some longer rails which could help bring the scope closer, but it would still be 'scout-ish'. There are scout scopes that will go as far as 7x magnification for those longer shots. If you're not going to D&T, I don't know of any other options. I think Brass Stacker in the US sells a reputable scout mount.
Cheers, Al

Thanks for the info, I saw those but wasn't sure if its legal to ship to canada.
There are the ati brand rails, does anyone have much experience with them?
Thanks

And yes, Brass Stacker ships to Canada. All steel mount and very robust. You really can't go wrong with it.
