I didnt saw the other model, the scope on my svt sniper is same model i have on the M91/30,thx for the info''I have a SVT scope. The SVT scope body is smaller between the turret and the eye piece.''
Actually two types of SVT scopes, one with a narrow step like yours and one with a slightly larger step.
So can anyone explain what I got?
-No import stamp
-Scope does not have refurb markings, just a hammer/sickle and serial number (like here and here)
-Is the mount locking screws welded to the frame? Kind of weird way to build it
-It is a 1944 refurb sniper.
-Firing pin tip is black with either cosmo or old whatever was left when it was put into storage.
Got it from SFRC. This is quite different from others who have a import stamp and more markings on the scope. Too bad the freaking locking nut is missing.... will have to send a message to SFRC about that. Can't mount the scope securely without it.
Did you remove the handgaurds?
Yes, no markings anywhere on the barrel.
You got lucky!
Your pictures are so huge that the whole page is taking like 10 minutes to load, and I have high speed.
Might think about killing all of the hotlinks...in all of your posts with pics.
Thanks for putting pics up though.
I always resize my pics to about 100KB in size, manageable and most internet connections can handle them.
If I had to guess I'd say that rifle may not even be a refurb. It looks like they just took it off the rack at the arsenal and stuck it in the box.
It's not perfect no but it's like an original paint and body car...there might be some issues but at least you know what you have. Think of all of the refurbs as repainted cars that have had body work.
I'm not seeing where the scope base screws are welded? They look quite normal to me. The rifle isn't bad really. Bad shellac is not uncommon on Mosins and is indicative of not being refurbed IMHO.
The feeling is bitter sweet. No markings yay, and an interesting scope (seems to be a non-refurb) but the stock is in somewhat poor condition. It has severe flaking problems and just removing the rings caused a lot of the finish to scrape off. As well, the bolt leaves much to be desired since it has some pitting on the back as well as a charred firing pin. On top of all that, the locking screw is missing so I cannot mount the scope. Maybe I am just spoiled by the infantry rife refurbs?
Scope is an early rarer model, the stock finish is typical for soviet made firearms, the pitting on the bolt looks more like forging marks than pitting, the black firing pin may be from the hardening process and the mark on the boltface is from test firing & sighting. I don't see any evidence of welding either. Translation = par for the course. These aren't beauty queens, they are bruisers that can easily take you out at 500yrds & almost always bring many equally capable friends with them. Za Rodina!
Took my TULA out of box, 1943(all numbers matching), 1941 SVT scope CB stamped( serial number of scope stamped on rifle).Scope clear, bore pristine, bolt face looks new. Going to range tomorrowSorry no pictures till one of my kids comes for a visit, I don't do pics very well. hand picked happiness
Cleaned it, took it to the range. fooled with the sights a little bit, basically moved poi 2" to left and viola! Elevation was right on at 100 meters . 5 shots at 100 meters, 3 shots touching, total group 1". I quit while I was ahead. Shooting Prvi 184gr fmj. Where can I by a case of this stuff???? I am sure I can't beat this accuracy handloading. Much better than I expected!Happy happy camper.

Double check to be sure, it's hard to see but when the capture screws are removed, there is no gap between the screws and mount body. Seems it's welded.
