Mosin Original WW2 Dated Matching Sniper Rifles for SALE!

Yes, Welcome to our brave new world brought to you by the nice folks at the United Nations. If they can't get you to melt them down, they at least force you to stamp them. Once, twice or maybe thrice !

cigar man yes i remember those wonderful garand days i still have my M1D from that batch of yours ...cant wait till you get those rifles call me

Molot is the company that made the manual. Their name and logo are on the cover page. Here is their website.

They are selling new 91/30s for hunting BTW.

Their company profile online says they are a manufacturer of new weapons. Surplus does not seem to be their thing.

The opinion that the manuals were included to try to "pass off" a historical weapon as a "hunting rifle" seems plausible. The book does seem a bit silly for a milsurp.

It may be a long time before we know for sure what the heck is going on. I am sure the rumour mill is in full gear now.

If someone has one of those Mosin snipers that Century Int was selling back in the early 90s a side-by-side comparison of them could help.

I would also like to see how one of the Wolverine snipers from ATI compares. I know all 6 got bought up so maybe next week when those guys get them they may want to meet up with someone that bought one of these other ones.

We can look at the serial numbers on the left side of receivers - do the numbers look like the same kind of stamp? We can look at the scope mount and the holes in the receiver. Same position, machining marks, etc. Get out the magnifying glasses we have to get a bit CSI on this one!

For the people that are truly interested in knowing more about these we should put this forum thread back on track. I feel it kind of degenerated into an immature schoolyard squabble. I accept some of the blame myself but ready to move on.

The milsurp community is 99% a mature and intelligent group. Of all the forums this one is the one where you can learn A LOT. Let's keep out the rants, the trash talk, and get back to a positive and constructive conversation about the recent imports of MOSIN SNIPERS.

Will someone please school me 'cause I'm no international firearms expert. It's my basic understanding that Russia signed the UN treaty to destroy surplus arms and Ukraine did not and this is why many of the Soviet guns coming here come from Ukraine. Are the barrel markings on these snipers not indicative of coming from a country that signed the treaty? So if correct wouldn't this put holes in claims that these were hacked together in some Ukraine factory? Am I even close or am I just a complete idiot?

I have lots of pics of the ATI Mosins, including the markings on the barrel.

The markings are different but somewhat similar. Americans who have received those rifles over the last 2 years describe them as coming out of boxes marked Tula, with Tula modern proofs and marks on the rifles.
Tula, being one of the original makers of the rifles...is OK by me. ;) Note the T in a triangle.

The finish on the rifles is also quite different, a sort of brown paint that people report is well done and tough, if a bit sloppy at times.

Of course, the other rifles say Russia too??

I'm guessing different source companies, different group of rifles.

Yes, but they have no choice. Either do that or melt them down in to slag which the UN would no doubt prefer.

It's either these or nothing guys.

####ing UN....

How do they stamp it on? Is it possible to remove with a thinner or something (careful, the UN police will come to charge you with altering tracking markers!!!!)?

If the markings don't come off then I think the dealers that have been advertising them as "no import markings" need to correct their websites. And I think that is most of them.
And for the customers that bought them, thinking they were getting no import markings...then we were misled. Unintentionally I am sure, but nonetheless it is not a correct description of the item offered for sale.

Tradex specifies in bold that they have no import markings... I wasn't going to take my stock apart - but i am a little curious if mine has import markings....

Those arn't import markings, the Made in Russia marking.

If it said something like this:

CAI ST.ALBANS VT >>>>>>> (which translates to Century Arms International St. Albans, Vermont USA)

That would be an Import Marking.

Oh boy...I knew someone was going to point out the obvious and I had a feeling who that would be. DOH!

To import something it has to be exported first. Whether the Russians made the markings over there or here in North America someone marked them some other way.. I think what we wanted was a "clean" rifle. No marks.
Russians speak English and their alphabet is different... so the MADE IN RUSSIA (in English) on the barrel was obviously meant for someone other then themselves.

We now have English written on a Russian rifle...ack...they could have least put in in Cyrillic.

Comrade Sledge,

If you look at the Nagant Snipers in the US, they have import marks on them and are quite visable.
The ones in Canada do not have this as they were not marked in North America.

Also the new batch of RC K98 in the USA have the Billboard markings on them as well.

Be Thankful for what you have!

Or are you putting it on the EE again!
