My brother passed my SKS back to me after 1 shot. I put a sandbag over his shoulder. My mosin kicks like a mule, my brother passed it back to me after one shot.

M38 has more recoil than the 91/30. not fun.
Must be an erogonomics thing, i dont mind the recoil but the butt plate is a bit sharp so you should aleast wear a t-shirt. Seen many a guy whinse and moan after pulling the trigger on a mosin. My stiga 30,06 and ruger no1 in 375h&h kick much harder. I get a sore neck the odd time and thats it.
be safe
I'm not going to tell you to stop shooting those rifles but if you are already feeling the pain, next comes disc damage, maybe slight concussion damage but more likely retinal looseness or even loss in sever circumstances and eventually your #### will fall off. Some people actually can handle the recoil. Some can't. No matter what some like to believe, we are not all created equal.
Fixed it.
Sorry, couldn't resist.![]()
The only time I've ever really felt pain from recoil was when I was new and didn't perfect my form yet. I have been shooting milsurps since day one. I would recommend the "Shoot to live" manual.

Not only did following this make me a decently competent marksman, but eliminated any pain. I can shoot Mosins, enfields, K98's all day with no pain.
If that doesn't work I'd recommend a dose of trybeina.
