Sadly while looking for left hand mods for Mosin Nagant I came across one of the douche bags from red jacket gun down south has made up a Mosin Nagant SBR aka Obrez pistol and I'd like to make one myself.

I can't reach the CFO's for the life of me, been on hold 18 minutes in total so far today so I'll just ask here since people know the legal mumbo jumbo as well.

How short can we cut the factory mosin barrel and still remain non restricted and not become prohibited? I am aware overall length must remain at least 26 1/2 inches.

I REFUSE to ever produce any stupid s**t like the red jacket goon did doing this............it just makes me cringe in disgust.

can those be shot? They must kick like a mule with a bee up it's bum! The top one looks like it would break a wrist. Any info on their shoot-ability?

To cut a barrel yourself, I believe that the limit is 18" muzzle to breech face. A barrel that is MANUFACTURED by someone licensed to do so can be any length, provided the overall length of the firearm is over 26 1/4".

I'm not too sure how it would work if you were wanting to make a restricted class Obrez. I would imagine you would have to have the barrel made and installed, as anything cut under 18" instantly makes the firearm more dangerous, and therefore prohibited.

Don't want restricted, want a short barreled Mosin I can pack around on a drop leg or even shoulder holster.

If newly manufactured is my only option then I'll be going that way.

Hogue Tamer grip will be integrated into the rifles replacement stock. ;)

Seriously?

That looks to be like the most useless gun ever!

Just imagine for a second how it would work, never mind how it would kick.

Having a custom made barrel is a whole other story and gonna cost an arm and a leg.

Sounds like you need to get a mares leg and call it a day. At least it can actually be cycled without having to change your grip and move the gun all over the place.

I am left handed so changing grip wouldn't be issue at all, operate bolt with my right supporting hand., just hook the bolt with your pinky and fourth finger then cycle.

How it would kick......HAH, I've shot slugs from my 12.5" griz with pistol grip on and kept on smiling, not an issue for me.

Mares leg....$34/box+ for ammo, no thanks, I plan on shooting this till my hands fall off. ;)

Problem is, @ 26 inches, it isn't gonna look anything like the picture.

Interested to see what you come up with though.

Not sure how easy it will be to source and install a new barrel.

Might be interesting to build a modern example using a Stevens action. That way you could actually have 2 stocks for it, that could easily be swapped to make an otherwise novelty into a useful super short carbine.

Youtube
It was used by Russian Partizans to assassinate Germans and conspirators. A lot of power in that little, easy-to-hide package.

When you want to put a fist-sized hole in someone and set them on fire at the same time...

Like I said, pretty Fin useless if you ask me, and with our laws it will look nothing like that when it is done.

To each his own though.

Refer to Sig line.

A gun you can't shoot is really pointless.

A gun you can't shoot well is the same for me, so a hip shooter like this falls into the same category for me. ;)

The pic in the OP does have a front sight though, so it could work, but every vid I see online is just chopped, and shot from the hip, so..........

Like I said I am interested to see what comes of this.

I have done a backpacker shotgun in the past, and it was pretty useless I found, and sold it shortly after.

Oh I agree with you there; I don't like gun I can't use to knock a gopher's head off with consistently at range, but some guns are just stupid fun to have around.

Like most 10/22s.

Aww Flem from Red Jacket doesn't like being called out on not firing the Mosin SBR like a pistol.

He just says I'd love to see you do it and you cant shoot a gun.... LOL

God damn RJ are clowns.......for being such deep south badasses as they portray on tv, they are wussies on top of being huge morons haha.

Have you seen the thread on the nickel 12 guage handgun?

A member here and at my range chopped one ofthose nickel Rossi Backpackers and put a red dot on kt.

Since its already classed a handgun it can be chopped right down to 4.2 inches. Lol

I dont think his was that short but it kicks pretty good with slugs:eek:
