I'm gonna go out on a limb here. Many people are gonna bash these rifles. However, I have 2. One in .308 and another in .30-06. Both are more than serviceable and I like them. They are both better shooters than I am. I used the .30-06 last year to kill a buck at 240yds, a doe at 260yds, and a 700 lb cow moose almost in the same place as the doe. The rifle functioned reliably and each shot on the deer were bang-flops.
The moose was a heart shot but I was using a bullet that was too light (I was deer hunting and she came out wrong time, wrong place) but I still had the tag and I knew that even a 150gr would do the job. It did, she went 75yds and laid down. Not quite dead when I got there, but close enough.
I only shoot in the .30 and .311 cals but I am sure that the 270 is of similar accuracy and quality which I believe is excellent for the price.
Good luck.

All I will say is lebarrens has the stevens 200 in the specials section for $345.I have one its tack driver :nest:I can only say that from handeling the mossburg it was not for me .

I had a 4x4(same action) in .270 and it was great, used it to kill my mule buck and whitetail buck last year. Reliable, accurate, felt good in my hands(loved the grip!) Only complaint might be that the trigger was a little stiff (get a smith to rework it, or buy a rifle basix trigger). Oh and the walnut stock was heavy! Nice gun though.

i got that gun in 30-06 its my first rifle and ive started handloading for it i use nosler 165 grain accubonds 1 1/8" groups first attempt and im gunna start tweaking it till i get under a inch. i like the gun but i dont have anything to compare it to really but good luck with your decison

Mossberg 100 ATR VARI-XII .270, Leupold 3x9 VARI XII

I've got the Mossberg 100 ATR VARI-XII .270. Only ever shot it at the range get a good 3" grouping at 300 yards with Leupold 3x9 VARI XII. Friend has same gun with Nikon scope and has consistently filled his deer and moose tags every year.
I have to sell mine because I am now in a wheelchair and can't get out to use it.
Anyone have any idea what I could sell it for here in Canada?

Sorry about your condition...this thread is 9 years old.
The gun alone, maybe $300...the Patriots go on sale for $350 often and they are kind of the evolution of the ATR. Scope on it's own you might get another $300. Don't sell as a package, you won't get $600 or anywhere near that for it.
Depending on condition of course.

ey i did the budget hunter thing in nz an picked up a mossberg patriot..... an didnt it handle the jandal.. great gun and i loved it for 500$
the ATR not quiiiite as good imo, but for a work horse, on a budget, they do work.. ive just never been too much of a atr fan
