Mossberg 464SPX Tactical Lever Actions have arrived!!

I have the mariner version of this gun with the walnut stock and it's an excellent gun (especially at the price point). Fit and finish are better than any marlins I've seen lately and very accurate out to 100 yards. Easily, inch and a half groups from a rest with cheap federal 170 gr. The tactical stock looks a bit goofy to me but might be great for a gun you could get a bit rough with. I got mine as a "truck" gun and the wood/finish is so nice I can't bring myself to treat it like one;). The shorter barrel might be handy also.

I agree. It should be a .308

Tube mag. Spitzer bullet. Dumb idea.
You need a box mag, like some of the Browning BLR's.

I have to guess Mossberg was trying to get the classic look of the action, barrel and mag to be like the 1894...
But then just change out the foregrip and stock to be "tactical" so they can rinse, wash, reuse with another stock and call it another gun.

The stock I can under stand as it can be adjusted but the rails on the front are just over kill...

If it was .45-70 maybe. Fun to read the thread though.
If it floats yer boat, go for it! :sniper:

Mind if i ask where you bought it?I thought they were a special run for specific shops in the states.I'd take a serious look at one. Thanks

Looks like an answer to a question no one asked.
Since when does a tactical gun need slow reload times and an odd calibre?
Tactical bolt actions exist, but as sniper platforms. The effective range of this gun would probably be around what, 150 yards? The AR is right about there, with a better calibre, semi auto and magazine feed.
The only plus I can see is reliability of the lever action, but that's a stretch.
A novelty at best, but it will still sell well, I'm sure.

That's gotta be the ugliest thing I've seen since Gary Busey, and the engineers must be on more crack than Nick Nolte has in his sock drawer.

Seriously though, I'd be down if it had a more traditional stock, hammerless design and was fed by an AR-15 mag... 'cause then it could be a 30 rounder, since it's non-semi auto, and if it had an 18.6 inch barrel.

The real question is...which EE will this be kosher for once the new owner decides it's too ugly to keep? Modern Military and Black Rifles, or Hunting and Sporting Arms? :D

You can't polish a turd. Its still an outdated historical piece with modern albeit likely low quality furniture.

I just don't get why they have to make it only in tactiDUMB caliber.

Its chambered in 30-30 because only those who still believe 30-30 is a viable round will buy such a failed abortion. Not to mention the whole sympathetic detonation issue Bob Loblaw raised about spitzer bullets in a tubular magazine.

Oh wait... it's for sale. :p

I got it last spring at Gagnons in Oshawa, they had 10 in for their spring sale for 399. It was advertised as stainless, it's not, but the marine coat seems pretty durable. I believe Cabelas sells the same gun with a laminate stock. I haven't seen the 16 inch barrel anywhere here in Canada

YES! I WOULD be that guy in your hunting party who has that! Just to see there faces would be worth every penny!! THEN to actually take a muley or black bear with it oh man!! I wish it had a side saddle on the stock!! LIKE the 500's have on retractble stocks!

also wish I had the money to buy one :D but boy do I think its ugly lol

I like the idea of updating an old classic, but the stock just doesn't do it for me - I wish they could get together with Hogue and do an overmold synthetic stock set for it. If they could put out a stainless version, all the better.

I guess I'll just have to make do with my guide gun for now :)!

I can understand the hate of taking a classic lever action rifle and tacticooling it, but I think it can be practical though. Why not adding a light and a red dot? Get a reliable and efficient SHTF rifle. I like it.
