mossberg 590 a1 or rem 870

I owned 3x 590A1s and 2x 870s.
I now have 2x 590A1's. A 20" with GR sights and a 14" bead both with speed feed stocks.
I prefer the position of the Mossbergs controls vs the Rems.

also, if you plan on putting on a pistol grip, than the 870 is a better bet, purely because of the controls. that being said, if you plan on putting on a rifle stock, than stick with the 590. its a solid gun.

I dont think that is that big an issue personally. I have owned both, and the best shotgun was the 590A1, we built tough and was so smooth to operate. Much easier to load as well.

How is the adjustability of the GR sights on the 590A1? Lots of room for adjustment? Boomer, your input here would be appreciated.

Get a 18.5" 590A1 and then get a Mossberg 835 barrel for it too. It fits perfectly and now you have a threaded for choke barrel as well. Shoots awesome as well.

There's a very good reason the Remington 870 ("Express" models not included) is the shotgun by which all others are judged!

The best bang for your buck is an older 870 with a 2 3/4" chamber. You'll have no problem finding one for $200-$250...and most of them have never shot more than a couple hundreds rounds.

agreed. I think the moss berg is a better buy. but if i had to use a shotgun with a pistol grip, between the two, i would prefer the 870

I just sold my 590A1 and im regretting it already lol, will probably have to pick up another one, with the sights i want.
