Mossberg 715t crap or not?

I just picked one up I took it all apart cleaned everything. They could of done a better job on the plastic shell like not make it a shell. I taped the mag and glued the spring to the follower. the mag release could be better but i can still release the mag with one hand. It loaded 25 rounds fine It cycled rounds fine I will test it at the range soon I hope.
Is the quality of the reciver on par with the other 22s of like?
Oh and how the F do you get the flash hider off lol Its really on there tight.
 
From my experience using it: Its Plastic and feels light and cheap, the mags are a pain to load, the one I used actually functioned well, no FTF or FTE to report after 200 rounds. For $300 its a fun little plinking toy if your looking for a inexpensive non restricted black rifle in .22lr
 
Hi guys, I picked one of these up, in flat top, for my Son, who is 10. Its nice and light, and we put a cheap 3-9 bushnell scope (one that came on my Savage Axis). I got a M4 type picatinny riser, and its all good! He LOVES shooting it! The only thing is mags are a bit hard for him to eject. We shoot cheap federal bulk, and it cycles just fine! IMO, it was a great deal, and alot of fun for the young ones!

I have one and it shoots great never Jammed on me once
U get what u pay for
And I'm happy with mine but don't use it as much cause I got a bolt action 77/22 and it's way more accurate
 
Tried to put some cci thro my 715 and i couldnt finish one mag without issues. Read so much on the forums that cci is the best in this rifle. BS holy crap this stuff sucks. Why did i buy 1000 rounds!?!?! Painfully fought thro 300 rounds then ended up trading my buddy the remaining 700 rounds for a box of federal bulk. My 715 is happy eating that all day long and its all ill buy from now on!
 
WOW, just read the first few pages, guys just bashing the crap out of this thing. come on guys, it is what it is. A cheap plinker. I certainly wouldnt buy one for myself, But one day, at the local gun store, I was getting myself a 22-250 and my son was with me, who shoots quite a bit with me, He's only 10, but shoots my Weatherby .223 Vanguard, and has his own Marlin .17 M2. He seen the cheap Mossberg flat top there and asked if he could see it. I got the guy to hand it to him and his eye's lit up! First thing he remarked was how light it was, and we could adjust the stock. I asked him if he would like shooting it, and it was a no brainer. Needless to say I came home with the 22-250 and the Mossberg flat top!

Hey, If it gets your kids shooting with you, and you get to teach them safety, and they really enjoy it, I see it as one of the better rifles i've bought! He's put around 1500 rounds through it,and after finding the ammo it likes, we havn't had any issues with it at all. Very rarely a FTF/FTE, its been awesome! Just remember, its a cheap plinker, and nothing more, based on a proven design..... The mag release could be easier to work, especially for him, he finds it stiff.....
 
Thats exactly why i bought it so my 9 year old daughter could shoot it. I brought her to try it out before i bought it. Same thing your boy said, its light and adjustable to fit her. I never regret buying it one bit!
 
I took mine to the rang yesterday for the first time. It was -26º out, I had alot of fun. I had no problems with the rifle I was shooting winchester wildcat 22lr. I had a few ftf but thats the ammo. I had a 7"w x 22"h steel target out at 100m hitting it all day Im impressed with the accuracy. Shot 425 rounds.

I like the gun good cheap fun, I think thats the point people are missing.
I think my gun work well because I CLEANED it before I shot it for the first time.

Nice! We found that you need to find the right ammo for this thing to feed properly, round nose, coated bullets seem to work the best. We found that Winchester Dynapoint GT was very good in it! And thats perfect, as thats the same bullet my Ruger 10/22T loves, so I always a pile of it in the locker. :)
 
A real waste of 250 bucks, don't need my 10 year old fighting with FTE's every 5 or 6 rounds. Just junk, nothing more nothing less. Now have a 10/22 and never looked back, just my 2 cents worth.

You must have used a brand of ammo it wouldnt eat. we have basically NO issues. My son can shoot mag, after mag, with no FTF/FTE. Id say every 100 rounds or so, if that. Heck, many trips to the range where we didnt have one hickup.
 
There will always be haters out there and they always make it known. Like I said before, 7000+ rounds and no issues with 7 mags! However the takedown was what did it for me. Sold the 715T and upgraded to a SU-22.
