Mossberg 715t crap or not?

I had my 715 out today plinking, and i was getting a few fte's..It was actually my girlfriend shooting it too. I realized why it was fte'ng, Both her and i had the mag resting on the bench, which in turn jammed and screwed everything up in the action!
Once realized, i propped the barrel on a rest so that the mag made no contact with anything..bam! flawless shooting.
Something all should be aware of if you're having FTE'S or FTF's with this thing..be aware if you're mag is being used as a prop up.

Since last week i have left all 4 mags loaded full 25. What a huge difference i can actually load all 25 with ease now but better than that, out of 250 rounds i had 6 jams!!! I actually enjoy this rifle now :) sighted in my red dot and had fun all night. A big difference in reducing jams that found is the gun doesnt like "as fast as you can pull the trigger" i got one jam per clip everytime if i went balls out. If i just shot double taps or steady repeating pulls all 25 shot flawlessly. Im so glad i didnt get a lemon i was worried for a while. Oh and this was all federal ammo.

Now i have ro figure put how to mod the little easy loader tool you get with each mag because the part the pushes the round down is bent. Ill try a fresh one and see if that lasts now that the mag springs are relaxed

Just went to the Range, and can say WOW!!! Great little plinker, dead accurate! matched my 10.22 Target anyday! and only 1,... One FTE on cheap 555 win from 10x 25 round clips. on the CCI Tactical AR22, i shot all 375 rounds, Not a single failure! I am really impressed, shot over 500 rounds, i was expecting after 200-300 to start failing, dirty but nope, shot like a champ.

I also let my mags rest and glued the lower spring to the red follower, works wonders!

Very impressed with Mossberg!

I had one a few months back but decided to sell it. It was accurate and fun to shoot but the magazines are cheaply made and the process to dismantle the gun for cleaning was such a chore especially with how dirty it always got.

I'd recommend to just go for a 702 or whatever the cheaper Mossberg semiauto is called. Same internals but none of the headache of taking out 13 screws to clean it. If tacticool is your thing and you don't mind spending 30 minutes cleaning after each shooting session then go ahead you'll have some fun for less money than what the competition is offering.

I recently picked one up and had a few issues to start with Jamming etc.. But since then I have made a few changes. One I cleaned the thing big time and it made a huge difference. Then I wrapped the Mag with a thin strip of tape to tighten it up in the mag receiver body help with the feeding a lot. Other than that. I love mine. It now works flawlessly. Keep it clean!

I handeled one of these yesterday! It screams fisher price! Felt like I was holding a toy gun from my childhood!! Giant seam down the two plastic halves!! I know there a budget 22 but wow!

Had my first chance to shoot one of these on the weekend at the range...

WHAT A CHUNK OF GARBAGE.... I mean three different types of HV ammo, averaging 3 FTE a mag. Could not fire more than ten shots before having to use the pocket knife to pull a empty out of the chamber!

And to the lovely couple who let me shoot it - my offer of $50 still stands - and I'm being generous.

On a side note - I know they enjoyed trying my M&P15-22 out... not a single failure, ran like a sewing machine :)

Lol mmmm would it, or could it be the ammo or how he loaded it?
My guess is if the mossy was all metal, people wouldn't put it down as much. That being said, what do you expect from a gun that costs half as much as your 22. The great thing is it's not restricted like yours!
I've owned two and loved them both. At my shooting range, you wouldn't believe the dismay when I'd out shoot 10/22s. Most guys would put their guns down and come over and ask me what the heck I'm shooting.
However I did jump no the mossy wagon before most and way before the flat top version.
Just hate the break down to clean, that's why I sold them.

once the mag spring seats/relaxes I found it to be problem solved. ask anyone who runs this gun with the 10 round mag, no fte's at all. the problem is the mag not the rifle IMO. hopefully the aftermarket comes up with a better design soon!

My 715T has had 1 stovepipe in 2500 rounds. This was about 1000 rounds in and has not occured again. I use the 10 round mags mostly but the stovepipe happened with the 25rd mag. There was some nasty sticky grease inside when I bought it. I cleaned it before I shot it the first time and it is deadly reliable. Out of 2500 rounds 2000 of that is cheap blazer with the 500 being stinger and winchester bulk. The only stovepipe was winchester but I blame the 25rd mag. Overall it is the most reliable rimfire I have ever owned and eats any ammo I feed it.

They seem to be hit or miss. Mossberg really blew it on the quality control of these rifles. Have two friends who own them. One has had absolutely no problems what so ever, while the others is a bolt action semi.

Whats is E.E.? I am looking to purchase a flat top for cheaper then the $359+Tax Retail Ive found.

It's the "Equipment Exchange", classified section here on CGN, where folks try to sell their unwanted AR-15s, loaded with airsoft accessories, for more than they cost new...

Check out the buttons at the top of the page: Dealer network/new posts/equipment exchange/etc etc

I have put probably close to if not more than 1000 rounds through mine and the only problem was with Winchester ammo. Now i only use CCI mini mag and not a problem. I have not done a proper take down yet. Just run a bore snake through it if I have time after cleaning all the other ones that are worth something. Its just a good fun gun. The 702 plinkster was a good gun to start with.

I finally got around to completely stripping the rifle down and cleaning it thoroughly. Used the mag loading tool to force 25 rds into each magazine. Headed out to the range and the first round failed to feed. After that one round it ran flawlessly for the next 399 rounds shooting Federal bulk pack. For the money, I think this gun is a decent purchase.

let the mag sit loaded until next time you go out. it will load and feed much better.

I've had mine for 2 years now. When I first got it I completely stopped it down, and cleaned and lubed it.
Have shot over 3000 rounds through it and have not cleaned it much since.
Just a bore snake through the barrel and cleaned and lubed the chamber and bolt without taking the whole thing apart.
I get the odd jam but both my 25 round and 1 10 round mags feed great.
I would have to say for a cheap plastic gun that I treat like crap it's been great.
