Mossberg 715t crap or not?

Most people I've found don't like the weight/plastic feel. Come on guys its a $150 selling for $300. What do you expect? A lot of guns are switching to plastic for weight savings and cost savings. If you want a metal 22, buy a M&P 15/22.
If you want to buy a very overpriced 10/22 buy an sr-22.
The mossy is a great gun for playing with, just wish it wasn't a pain to clean.
I love my SU22, it's the closest thing to an AR without it being restricted, plus it's foldable!

I thought the lower on the 15-22 was plastic?

all the comments about the cheap toy feel of the mossy should really go out and hold a peitta pps50 sythetic stock! my kids sippy cup feels more solid that that thing. feels cheap and very hollow. still a nice gun tho if they came outr with a better stock, its too damn small

I've put over a thousand rds through my 715. I get the occasional FTE but that's about it. I did discover that resting the mag on something causes it issues. It's been quite accurate. I have a little 5 paddle tree target and I put it out to 100yrds and kit it pretty much every time. Damn it's fun!!

Went out tonight and put 200 rounds of expensive winchester (red box of 100 for $10 bux!!!) and 200 rounds of the cheap blue box federal thro mine. I had nuthing but issues with the expensive stuff and the federal ran flawless! I bought some CCI ill try that against the federal see how it does. Loving my mossy!!

The 715 hate is strong in this thread mines been great some polishing tweaking like most other firearms 300 rounds sunday 1 fail to eject and pretty acurate i use a bore snake and spray out the reciever works fine blazer ammo best in this one

Mine was originally a 802 plinkster, just bought the body kit on the side, for when I wanna feel cool, but kept the normal stock just incase.
I think it is a great little shooter, and but it sucks for accessories compared to the 10-22

I went through this when I was shopping around for a new toy and I took a pass on the 715 not just because of the supposed quality concerns but more bc I wanted to stay away from the plastic fantastic feeling it gives you when you hold it , the loose and wiggly mags didn't do it for me either . Looks great though and I'm glad you guys that own them love them . I did the most expensive route ( possibly the dumbest lol ) and built one with a Troy tactical chassis ,10/22 , tacsol barrel & mag release, Simmons scope and ti-25 mags with skeletonized charging handle & fab arms t- pod . This thing feels a handles like the real deal , a little heavy but not in a bad way, also it's a tac driver , easily .5 moa . We were shooting steel plates at 180-200 yards and I was hitting 8 out of 10 times maybe more. The Troy chassis are hard to find but I love mine and more importantly would highly recommend this build .:shotgun:

So what the end cost including shipping/taxes for your build?

Mine shot great until the cleaning rod broke off inside of it and messed up the crown. Haven't had the time to get it fixed, so it sits lonely in it's safe...
Hoping to get it fixed over the winter, because it was A LOT of fun to shoot!

Have been looking for a cheap AR/tactical option in .22 to see if I want to invest in a high quality one. As the title asks, is the mosberg 715t (at around $300) worth it? I know I could do 10/22 build if I could find one cheap, or spend between $500-800 on a S&W or Umarex...but if im gonna plink I wanna do it cheap until I build my .223 AR build.

I would also be interested in other cheap options that I might have missed

Thanks in advance gang

Yes. They are crap. Save the dough and get the ISSC or a ruger SR22 if you can find it.

I love mine. Never any issues with the Winchester 555 .22lr ammo I buy. I bought a bunch of cheap amazon.ca/ebay.ca parts and an AFG when I was in the usa. I also put a cheap tapco red dot on it, and it is very accurate at 100yards.

:ar15:
What kind of mags did you get?
I do like the pietta pps 50 wildcatt...its pretty sweet looking

Yes the PPS-50 is a very sweet gun. I just purchased one and threw a bushnell trophy T-dot on it, such a fun gun. Accurate, reliable, and easy to maintain. Honestly much better than 10/22 I find. 300 rounds later and only one jam.

I was set to buy the 715T flat top but was not real happy with the overall feel and a little concerned about the issues with cleaning it. Then I saw the Pietta PPS Wildcat and went with that for $399 instead. But this was just two weeks ago and I was away last weekend so I haven't even fired the Wildcat yet.....but tomorrow I hope to run at least a full 50 rd mag through it. :ar15:

To be honest I've never added it up , I did it over a few pay checks and my brother got me the scope for my birthday . I go by the old saying of " if ignorance is bliss then I'm a happy man " lol ! I would estimate 1200-1300 ish , the only two items I paid shipping on we're the Troy stock itself from Eric @ taccsessories and the rugger from frontier , the rest got sourced from wanstalls . I'd put up some pics but I'm a computer rookie for sure!

bought 2 more mags for my 715T (6 total now) went to the range and polished off a box of peters ammo. 500 rounds 3 FTF's and 1 FTE. Love this rifle and I love it even more that it eats up cheap ammo. so far best luck with federal bulk box 525 rounds and now the brown box peters. I still have 1000 rounds of cci and 1000 rounds american eagle to test yet :D

is it crap or not, hellz NO!!! for a 300 dollar tacticool 22 it friggin rocks.

I have used my brother in-law's a fair bit and was not impressed. Cheap feel, lots of failures but what sealed the deal was when it fired out of battery. I nearly crapped myself, it blew the back of the casing out through the half open bolt. I was not impressed.

I love mine, 1600 rounds through it. I have 4 25 round mags, put a little tape on the mag to tighten it up, and run m-22 and I've had zero problems, maybe one jam. It hates Winchester white box though.
