Off and on a feed issue with my two month old Mossberg 930 JM Pro has reared its ugly head and now has made this otherwise nice shotgun unworkable. I'm providing this as information to others.

Symptom: it will sometimes double-feed or when charging button is pressed will fail to feed.

Upon inspection I saw that the shell stop function just was not working as it should and pressing the charging button either did not move the shell stop or did not move it out of the way.

On a more detailed look after taking out the trigger assembly and examining the shell stop assembly two parts of a pin fell out. In fact it was the Front Shell Stop Pin (part #18 in the manual) that came out in two pieces. It was sheared in two. Mind you this is after no more than a 150ish shells through it.

This is a tiny little pin no more than 4mm in length. Without it the front stop just wiggles and is otherwise useless.

I've sent emails to the vendor and also to Mossberg Canada service. I'm not sure if these are common items otherwise I would rather just walk into a store and see if they can replace it.

Unfortunately Mossberg Canada won't handle the JM Pro since they were not imported into Canada through them. You'll have to contact IRG for any warranty work. Might be cheaper just to buy the part yourself and do the repair.

Thanks for the tip. I won't be waiting for a response from them then. Waiting for IRG.

Any idea where I might source one? Yes it would be an easy fix for me right now as my JM Pro is in pieces.

I don't know the difference. It's a round pin. If I took a picture of it would look just like a round black cylinder that you need to poke out with a needle.

Roll pins are hollow. They're made of a flat piece of steel formed into a tube shape.

Roll pin assortments are available in all sorts of fastener and auto supply stores and are easier to find than solid pins. Because they have a bit of give to them the sizing doesn't need to be exact. If your pin is solid, you may be able to replace it with a roll pin and fix it yourself in minutes for pennies.

Thanks for the info. It's a solid pin. I think I would rather replace it with another solid pin since this seems to be a point of failure. If I get desperate I'll take that advice about going to auto shops.

Is it this pin?

Edit: Humm, never mind, found out you're looking for a front shell stop pin it mainspring retaining pin. Maybe you can order one directly from Mossberg?

The shell stop pin is secured with a spring clip. Had a 930 and mine broke as well.
You can order them from Wortner Gun Works, they are the authorized warranty center for Mossberg.

While your at it, order a spare pusher assembly (part 24) The aluminum legs will eventually snap with heavy usage. I went through 2 with my 930.

Thanks. I saw their number up on the Mossberg site. Wortner Gun Works 433 Queen StreetChatham, Ontario N7M 2J1(519) 352-0924. Will call them today.

I don't quite understand this note of yours. When I took the shell stop apart it looked like the shell stop pin just goes in the hole. And on the diagram it doesn't seem like anything holds it in place. I'm looking at this manual. Diagram is on p.29. I do have the other two springs that are part of the shell stop but they don't interact with the pin. I do have the part 20: shell stop retaining clip, though.

I will take your advice and also order that part 24.

I still have that one yes.

I spoke with Wortner Gun Works on the phone and ended up emailing my request. Was a bit hesitant on the phone because he said he needed the gun in hand to confirm the warranty and that I couldn't just order the parts. We'll see how this turns out.

No response yet from the warranty center.

I tried Western Gun Parts (westerngunparts.com) and they responded promptly that they do not have Mossberg 930 parts.

I also tried a Lordco and they didn't have any tiny pins.

Not a whiff of response from IRG either.
