So I have been looking for a shotgun to replace my old 70's Wingmaster for a while now, and I think I may want a semi. I had never considered a semi before as I thought they pretty much started at $1000 for anything semi decent. But just recently I started reading about the Mossberg 930, and it seems to be getting pretty stellar reviews. I am considering the 930 Waterfowl/Deer combo. It will mostly be used as a range gun for clays for the time being, but I am looking at getting into deer and possibly some waterfowl hunting in the near future (already have my license, just no opportunities as of yet).
I don't think I could justify spending much more than the price of the 930 combo on a shotgun. Perhaps if I really got into shotgunning/hunting later on, but for now I would like to keep it affordable and fun. So it's pretty much either this combo, or a pump combo. I am pretty sure I want a semi.... they seem like they would be a lot of fun for clay shooting at my club, and I like that the gas models dissipate some of the recoil. The rifled slug barrel would be really nice too... that way I wouldn't have to worry about having to buy a deer gun, and the deer hunting around here is shotgun and muzzleloaders only anyways.
Are you 930 owners happy with your gun? Do you have any complaints, or problems cycling the cheap bulk pack target loads?
Thanks!
