Mossberg factory 14" shotgun barrel kit

Does it also come with the shorter forend that is required to function?
Just got off the phone with Dan at CSC.

Apparently it's just the barrel, no magtube. No forend. 150$ ish.
He doesn't know if it's heavy barrel or not.

Either way, without the shorter forend assembly and tube you're hooped for an A1.

That's contrary to what the importer and one stocking dealer are claiming. I think your guy has mistakenly misled you. Unless of course he's saying spare barrels are available for that price point, which in that case I'm interested in one. I'd like to have a second barrel for the shotgun I already own.

The barrel is definitely the A1 heavy barrel. To the best of my knowledge, Mossberg only has (1) 14" barrel option and it's the A1. If you look at the muzzle of the pic shown in the first post, you can see the thickness of the barrel.

I'm hoping other dealers will have more competitive pricing on the kit.

I would buy just the barrel at that price.

I can fabricate everything else myself.

Yes I think there is some confusion as CSC stated it was just the barrel.

The OP's offering seems to read and show 14" heavy barrel and mag tube. This would still require the shorter forend and forend tube to work.
If it's a full kit with forend I suspect they left that out by mistake.

Not really sure what CSC meant on the phone, but I'm sure everything will be clarified in the hours/days to come.

Good news! It's the full kit.

Little pricey but at least there's an option for Mossberg owners to own another SBS.

what's the overall length with a pistol grip?

If you install the Shockwave Raptor grip; You are just over the 26" minimum non-restricted length.

A normal pistol grip will put you into the restricted category.

I think if I could get just the barrel, the chop saw and tig welder might be all I need to modify my old lowly Maverick 88.

That's what I think too.
Just give me the barrel cheap.

I can modify/fabricate the rest pretty easily.

The thread size in the end of a Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 mag-tube is 7/16"-20.
I can easily make an end-cap on the lathe that will accommodate the barrel ring of the 14" barrel, even with the offset.

Could you tell me who sells the raptor grip in Canada, I can't seem to find any dealer, and shockwave technologies stated that it does not ship out of USA.
I would like to get one for my rem 870 with 14" barrel.
Thanks

Ebay is where I got mine, no problems.

Sounds like the Remington 870 14" barrels at the CSC which are $180. The Mossberg 590 ones are $475 at CSC.

The Mossberg ones are more because they come with the correct-length magazine tube and possibly some other things (hand-guard?)... I'd have to check with them again.

Edit: The Mossberg 590 ones at CSC include barrel, mag tube, spring, and hand-guard.

if mossberg (or??) produced a (15"?) barrel for the 500 that was flush to the standard tube mag
(like their 20" barrel fits on the 7-8 shot) it would be a HUGE seller!!! most likely COULDN"T KEEP THEM IN STOCK
What goes on in the states IS a factor,
but come on...this is OBVIOUSLY a good idea
JUST SHORTEN THE 18.5" BARREL TO 15"ish ALREADY

Agreed.

Wow! In the USA these are basically made out of "unobtanium". What a score. Does this possibly mean that more 14" shotguns will once again become available?

Unlikely. As you have said these barrel kits are next to impossible to obtain. It's highly unlikely there will be any more leaving the United States.
