mossberg mvp thoughts feelings opinions?

You likely already saw it in the other thread that you're discussing this same topic but i'll copy paste.

To take another run at helping you here,

Dissociate the mag from the firearm. The laws do not care what a mag is used in.

Because the MVP is marketed as being designed to use an AR mag, the RCMP will not differentiate between an AR mag that is marked MVP and one that is not, they are still both AR mags. In their eyes it is still simply an AR mag. If you design a mag specifically for the MVP and mark it as such you have simply designed another AR mag. This mag will still be subject to the exact same treatment as any other AR mag.

For the super short and simple version

Mossberg MVP MAG = AR MAG
the rifle is marketed as being "compatible" with AR mags, I am talking about new mags manufactured and marketed for only this firearm with the apropriate markings just like a LAR or 50 Beowulf is an exception.

Id like one in 7.62x39...I wonder if it will be a a dedicated Mossberg mag or will it be an AK mag. Be nice to shoot cheap cheap surplus in it
not sure, saw it listed here

Brian

We are not worth the effort for mossberg to try and change things.

Money talks, and unfortunately Canada walks.
who said anything about mossberg making the mags? there is local makers of the AR15 mags, just a matter of having one made with the apropriate markings and a licence agreement with mossberg to use their name to denote the application of your mag is their rifle on the new mag, submit samples to whoever for approval and if they say yes start making them.

Who said anything about mossberg making a different mag, mossberg needs to change all the marketing and convince rcmp that this is not designed for AR mags.

A classic example is the 10/22 bx mags, as soon as ruger put that these work in a charger which is a pistol the rcmp slapped a prohib on them.

This has been tried with other mags, the latest was the new Beowulf mag from Isreal. The rcmp looked at it and told the company to take a walk.

mossberg markets the mvp as "compatible" with AR15 mags, LAR mags are "compatible" with an AR15, they actually fit right in, so do the beowulf but nothing got prohibited there?

Is that why it is sold out?

That was actually two seperate thoughts... As in "not getting" the magazine capacity concept... And then; the 7.62 will be a hot seller... I know I'll want one!

will the 7.62x39 probably use diff mags entirely?
doesn't matter to me, it's a bolt action, so don't need super high capacity
it'll def be more accurate than the SKS, but wondering if it'll have enough oomph for deer farther than sks.
id get the 308 if i wanted to go moose hunting though i guess
decisions decisions....
would make a killer (pun not intended) yote rifle with cheap ammo...and accurate enough to actually shoot them farther than 100y

please be available soon...

First time in my life shooting @ 200 yards! I had such a blast this rifle is deady! Obviously i have to adjust my scope for this distance but you can see my groupings. Not bad for a rookie lol

Cheap to practice with, then about 80 cents per round or less for mfs hunting rounds or more for Hornady
I find the ballistics are far enough off that practicing for hunting with anything but your regular hunting ammunition in your hunting rifle does not work very well/help you at all. Maybe you have found a hunting load that is close, just my 2 cents.
