Hey everyone, I got my mossberg tactical .22, and it fires great. It's easy to load with the speed loader, and very accurate. It also looks incredibly mean - my kids love it! So, the first time we had it at the range (thurs), we put 300 rounds through it. BIG SMILES.
However, i got it home to clean, and the smiles stopped. The manual is useless. I'm pretty good with taking things apart and puting them back together, but this was a beast! Getting the facade off, is okay once you figure out how to do it, but I made the mistake of following the directions to remove the trigger - BAD IDEA.
Word of advice, be careful to only take the trigger out far enough for it to separate from the bolt - something the manual does not say. Needless to say, I pulled too far, and everything flew out. The bolt and associated spring is absolutely a nightmare to re-install - BEWARE. I bent the spring half a dozen times, having to straighten it out each time - there is also a little plastic spacer that sits at the rear of the trigger, on top of the bolt. CAUTION - the manual does not give instructions - I had to see the exploded parts diagram to get it back together. Once, the spring shot the guide bolt 12 ft across the room, and nearly punched a hole through my TV. (I still have to buff that scratch off!)
Next time, I will not take the trigger out, and just do my best at getting the crap out of the chamber, and bolt assembly. The sad part is I complained to my wife that my Browning takedown was too much work to clean, I sold it to buy this for my kids - a decision that I will rectify when their arms are longer.
I hope this helps -
